decided against another built in nav as previous one was to be honest rubbish. So bought this one for its ease of positioning without using a screen sucka plus it clips out of its holder and still looks good or can be swapped for a mobile holder
anyway cool feature is they do a colour scheme for the EOS which looks great and currently reduced from £129.99 to £59.99

Looks very nice and discreet. :)
I have a Garmin which I stick on my windscreen, would like to do the same as you so how did you link up the power supply and what holds the unit on the dash.
Cheers, David

hi
there are two non damaging mounting options
i have this one
http://www.chameleondirect.com/nhb113-vw-golf-bora-04-or-jetta-06-cons-mount-bracket

but also this is suitable
http://www.mountonus.com/products/P...Volkswagen_Eos_2007-2008_RHD_for_England.aspx

as for power i have not yet decided as i chose the higher mounting position a may make a groove in the silver surround as they only cost £20 or just plug in as normal
in the lower position the cable was un-noticable
anyway the whole point was to avoid succka marks, when removed it looks like this

Thanks for that pacemaker, great links and very helpful.
Looks good, I wonder if it is possible to take an electric feed from the light in the glove box?

i have covered this before
the best way to get a 12v supply is direct from the fuse box where you can decide if you want it on permanately or with the ignition
look at the end pic here

http://www.vweosclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371

this way you have a socket for any 12v device
threading the lead behind the dash is easy
the fitted phone kit my car came with had a small notch in the removeable panel under the console where the cable came out and is un-noticable

Another option is with Garmin Nuvi

Here's my Garmin Nuvi 360 in my 2008 Eos Lux. The Nuvi 360 was about $400 new when I got it 2 yrs ago, but now about $200.00 so a great price. It does my navigation (Aquiring Satellite b/c it is in my garage at the time of the photo) but does a great job with nav. It also has a slot for an SD card and I've installed much music on that card. The Nuvi 360 works as an MP3 player. It is also Bluetooth with my mobile phone. Best part is the location of my install is out of the way on the windshield, low down so it doesn't attract too much attention. 12V power is right next to it. AND... running a mini-stereo plug from the headphone jack on the Nuvi and into the Armrest Aux in give me MP3s thru the Dynaudio (awesome) with touch screen control of my music. My Navigation is broadcast over the car audio also so even zipping along at 70mph I can hear the directions voiced to me with the top down. It is smart enough to pause the music when it needs to give directions. Using the bluetooth phone through the car audio helps me hear the person on the other end....they usually know I have the top down though b/c of the wind. Still great little gadget that does everything I wanted without paying a high price for a non-portable and harder to upgrade built in VW Nav system. By the way, no special mounting is needed. Using the "dash mount" that comes with the Nuvi, it slips down quite nicely into that little tray compartment and just neatly (looking at that photo, I could do a quick rearrange...) tuck the wires in. The Aux in cable is pretty well hidden next to the console too!

Thats a neat installation Darren, presume thats using the standard sucker fitting on to the the self adhesive plate thats comes with the unit.
So you don't have any trouble finding satellites in that position with the top up?

I have my tom tom installed in the same way. an adhesive mounting plate stuck on the surface underneath the heater controls, The new tom tom has a different style of sucker mount, which folds flat against the back of it. Fits perfectly on the adhesive mount. Out of the way, and right next to the 12v socket, perfect.

No problems getting a satellite signal for nav top up or down. The only area that is problematic is my garage and sometimes my driveway (very wooded neighborhood). And yes, it is just the standard round self-adhesive disc that I stuck into the tray. Wish I could find a smaller 12V plug, but it's really no biggie.

exactly my first choice
i even borrowed one to try and it folded up out of the way as well, good thinking :D
i would have permanately wired the it to the fuse box aswell so the lighter socket could be used for something else and the tray would close
price and fears that it was too low for safety reasons changed my mind
