Does anyone else have a problem with the size of the brake pedal and its close proximity to the gas pedal on the automatic? I have had my Eos for about a week and I love everything about it except the fact that I have a size 13EE shoe and I can't count the number of times I have tried to take my foot off the gas and move it to the brake and had my shoe hook on the brake pedal. This is almost dangerous and makes for a pain in the "foot".

Does anyone know if it is possible to get an aftermarket brake pedal for the automatic? I know you can swap out the pedals for performance pedals on the manual but does anyone know if you can do it on the auto?

wait before you swap pedal

I had the same feeling when I bought mine, to me it's just a matter of muscle memory. I come from driving a toyota Tundra (big truck and lots of room) So I guess my feet tend to sway a bit more
Now, there's nothing to it and I own my eos for 2 mths now, I don't ever feel the pedals are too small, never an issue ...

I agree with victorTX ... just takes a little getting used to, and after a month or so you won't even notice it. As for pedals, they are available in a number of combinations depending on if it is auto or manual. I bought mine on eBay, and my dealer installed them in about 30 minutes. Check Auto Parts and Accessories and use "EOS" in word search.

I've noticed the same thing... my foot gets caught on the brake moving over to the gas pedal. Are you guys sure you can get use to it in a month? I have already written VW Canada and told them I think it is unsafe.

Fred, what after market pedals did you get? Any photo or web site to share so I can see? Does it effectively solve the problem?

Hi Hugh,
If you check my previous note to DrKoob in this chain, it includes how to look in eBay to find them. Here is a link that hopefully will take you to the ones I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/VW-Rabbit-Jetta-...9QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33700QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem But the ones I bought are no smaller in width than the original. They are just sportier and are a brushed aluminum/rubber combination ... so they won't solve the issue of wide pedals. I have reasonably big feet (12) and wear boots in the winter. It was a problem initially, and with big winter boots still is to some degree, but under normal circumstances I don't notice it any more.

I just bought a 2007 Eos and the brake pedal is DEFINITELY too close to the accelerator.
Reading this blog I get the impression that it was changed in 2008, but what's a person to do with a 2007?
I think it's unsafe.
I'd buy a replacement brake pedal if there were one available.
Any ideas?
