FWIW. I hope the climate control module you bought is from a EOS and not a Golf or other model. The EOS climate module has a temp sensor in it and interfaces with the roof module, so you have a set temp with the roof up and when you drop the roof, the temp switches to the secondary setting that you configured for roof down driving. The Golf unit will work but you don't get the dual temp mode like the EOS module.

Also, if the APR ignition coils are cheaper than the OEM ones, then great, if not, don't waste money on them, they won't provide any more reliability or any performance gain over the OE coils.

Got some cosmetic items coming but next big item is Coil overs/ wheels. Then DP and tune

Mod updates:
-Timing belt service
-APR Ignition coils
-All new Electrical connector housings for the coils due to a couple broken tabs.
-ECS/ Luft-Technik Intake System- Overall build and fit are perfect. Love how this kit came with a heat shield by the exhaust manifold and the air filter. Definitely cleaned up the engine bay removing that OEM engine cover.
-ECS Billet Parking brake- Fits, looks and works great. Easy upgrade.
-Replaced the purge valve due to the typical gas cap light
-Removed the OEM oil cap extension so now the oil cap is flush with the valve cover

On Order:
-New OEM oil dipstick
-New South Boost gauge- I bought a APR boost gauge but don't like it so ill try and return it.
-Steering column gauge pod for boost gauge
-New/ Used convertible motor

Future mods/installs in order:
-Hood insulation
-Coil overs
-Downpipe and tune
-New front grill
-Interior door panel leather fixed
-Tint
-Wheels/ tires
-Lseats.com new front seat leather

Removed the old rusty convertible motor today. Wasnt too bad of a job. if nothing was rusted i would been easier with the replacement. Anyway roof worked, so im happy but while running the top a couple times the sunroof got stuck. Now the sunroof motor needs to be replaced or rebuilt...love older cars hahaha I see they have rebuild kits available online and ebay using brass gears. May do that instead of the plastic ones.

You have the largest screen head unit with a row of push buttons at the bottom similar to mine, but you don't have the multi function buttons on the steering wheel. Interesting to see how you get on with that. I've got used to reaching across to change the volume. But now I'm looking at retro fitting a multi function steering wheel although it comes with quite a lot of work and uncertainty.

It's not always obvious when buying these head units that having a convenient easy to operate volume knob takes up space and forces the smaller screen size. In my case volume knobs are always on the left and I'm right hand drive making it less convenient to reach across. Using a touch screen whilst driving isn't convenient either. I have the head unit CANbus converter module which works at the mo. for reversing and other graphics, but I won't know if picks up steering buttons until I start the mods and recoding.

i was going to get a used steering wheel with buttons but decided not to. We use it a lot mostly local so its not really a necessity for me. I do like the option to have it but not a deal breaker for this car.
I bought my head unit on Crutchfield.com. Not sure if they have that in Europe but they have an option for them to wire you harness to the new radio harness. They ask if you have steering wheel controls or not. Definitely worth having them do the wiring so its more plug and play for you.

So an update. i took out the Sunroof motor and opened it up. As i suspected the gear was stripped, common problem. So i ordered one one Ebay. Seems like all the other parts are good. ill update once i reinstall the new gear.

Wonderful photos, but the nylon gears don't strip easily with a good sunroof system, MY07 is still on the original nylon gear. You may notice Ebay sellers say they cannot guarantee their gear won't fail again which it usually does, because it's a 'consequential' fault often caused by excessive friction on the sunroof sliders or damaged Octopus cables which lubrication won't fix. If you go to a dealer with that fault they will quote an expensive repair to replace the motor/gear, cables and sliders to make sure they can give a warranty with no come backs. Read how the sunroof is driven. The Octopus cables have an internal spiral structure you can't easliy see and act like a worm gear whilst giving high torque linear motion in both directions.

When you start using the top and sunroof you will either be lucky or come back when the new gear has failed asking how to tear down an EOS sunroof which is a very difficult job.

The sunroof worked perfect before i did the convert motor. When i installed the motor i think i burnt out what was left of the sunroof gear while opening the top. Hope this gear is the only issue

Replaced the sunroof motor gear and recalibrated the sunroof motor. Super happy the sunroof and top are working as expected. I also used VW seal lube on some of the weather stripping. Need to grease the top components next.

Just need to do some research. not sure exactly what you want to do. A lot of info on the internet/ youtube.
I bought the new shifter boot/ knob from ebay from one seller.
