Hi, all, loving this car, 300 miles since last Saturday and can't wait for any excuse to drive.

Can I just check whether the boot is supposed to flip open when you use the door release or remote? On my old Passat if you used either door or remote release the boot unlocked and then slowly raised to the open position. On my Eos, the boot unlocks but then sits there still closed. I then have to lift it by hand. Is this normal?

thanks
Peter

The answer is yes you must lift the the boot lid. It is only unlatched when you use the keyfob, the button in the car or the lid emblem. IF you don't open it after a time (30 seconds I think) it will relatch.

Andy is correct. However I was caught out by the following:
The remote release in drivers door did not appear to be working properly as by the time you got to the biit it had locked again. This was found to be the correct operation when the passenger door is still locked. If all doors are unlocked and the remote release used the boot remains unlocked. A similar sitaution arises with the remote fob release.

OK, guys, thanks very much. Sounded like a silly question, I know, but it was obviously worth checking...

Not quite, GOgg. You are right that with only the driver's door unlocked if you plip open the boot using the door switch then it's not actually unlocked but it is supposed to pop its catch and stay like that until you get there! A few of us have had the problem that it relocks itself before you get there, but so far the dealer has been able to cure that with re-adjustment.

You are correct that if only the driver's door is unlocked the boot is NOT unlocked, just popped up. If for some reason it does re-latch itself then it remains locked and you can't re-open it with the badge so you have to plip it again. Only if both doors are unlocked can you open the boot with the badge.

I read that and thought "Toro caca!" Who in their right mind would think that was logical and would set up a locking system like that? But since I've been fighting for boot access for 7 or so months now, I figured I'd give it a try. It works. I'm amazed. Thanks!
