I'm guessing SiJ2000 will be my best source for info here.
I just noticed that the trim by the drivers door is cracked. Don't know how it happened. It's the piece of trim that covers the rubber seal on the main body of the car where the door seals at the bottom.
Picture attached for location, but dent and associated crack not visible on photos. Cracked area is within the red box

Question is: Anyone know the part number and how to remove replace the section. It's a pretty small piece and I'm guessing you can just prise it off.

Hi,

I haven't checked on the EOS yet, but on all other cars, you can just lift off the rubber seal, then it should be held down by clips.... I will look at the docs now and re-post in a bit later!

I would imagine it is plastic clips....

Hi,

I have consulted the manual and it appears that the trim simply pulls upwards and is held by seven plastic clips!

Check the rubber seal is not in the way.. This may or may not need to be removed first, but that should be apparent!

Thanks Simon, as ever your help is appreciated.
Don't worry if you can't, but if it's quick and easy could you tell me the part number?
Thanks again.
Still waiting for the post office to get the updated Smarttop mod to me - sigh.

Hi,

Annoyingly, I don't have access to the part numbers... I looked in the manual and they just aren't there :(

I should imagine they are embossed on the under side of the moulding itself, so if you whip it off, you should be able to see it!!

Good luck with the SmartTop... I hope it comes very soon!!!!

Would love to see a photo of your smart top install if you get a chance!

Hi. Thanks for the inf Simon. Regarding warranty. Simon is most likely right, I guess I must have stood on it. I don't know for a fact either way. I did think about trying the warranty. Can't harm to try I suppose.

I hope you watched my couple of vids in the video section regarding the DSG... That will cheer you up!
I did, and a very pleasing watch it was. After the roof the DSG is the bit I enjoy best about the car. It really is surprsingly good. A beautiful piece of engineering.

My pleasure .... glad it worked out for you. Sometimes a reasonable approach gets a reasonable solution. In this case, looks like it did. Cheers!

I noticed something similar: that same trim piece first dislodges from the rubber seal, and then becomes loose... starting from the dront. I noticed that this happened on the passenger side first: where there is the most traffic from people going in and out of the back seat. I noticed that if you put your weight on that trim, it would seem to deform enough to dislodge itself. Not very well designed, IMHO.

anyone have those instructions on how to dismount and then remount? thanks!

Same trim came away on my passenger side. I clipped it back in myself (several times!) but it kept coming loose. So I got the dealer to put some new clips on (thay can really only be used once for maximum grip) and it's been fine ever since.
