I always did like the Samarkands but they wern't an option when I ordered mine. Chicago's are far too common so I went for Westwoods but really I wanted 18". Now the Samarkand are available on UK 09 models as an option I took the plunge and ordered a set (don't ask how much!).

I reckon they must be the only set on a UK car!! Plus as my car came with 17" wheel originally, its 15mm lower from factory, but now has 18" on. Therefore it doesn't look like a convertible Toureg as factory 18" wheeled models do.

What do you guys think?

Great Look!
Look just like my 17" Lemans except in 18" format! Gives the car a clean powerful stance! I hate busy wheels.

The Samarkand wheel was the 18" wheel option for 07 and 08 in the US and were a $400 (USD) option when you bought the car. We don't have that option for 18" any longer and now have a different 18 " option wheel. They look much like the LeMans wheel except the spokes have a twist to them.

They do look good although I hope you didnt order them from VW. I rang VW to get a price on Chicagos' as im selling ,ime when my abt 19" finally arrive, not much change out of £1700 sterling for four, plus tyres.

You can get all the VW wheels from the after market producers for a lot less, the only difference is the weight in the wheels, a bout 1.2kg a wheel, so not a huge amount bearing in mind the cost saving.

Just put lighter air in......lol.

They do look good though, 18'' or bigger is the way to go for an Eos

Yeah, obviously as they're VW wheels I had no choice but to get them from local dealer. They have a barrel next to the parts counter that you have to bend over as you put your credit card in the machine. Then a big hairy mechanic is called out from the workshop to shaft you sensless as you put your pin in the machine, its the German Marque way I believe!

When I got some OEM wheels for my Vauhall Astra Convertible, they were £95 each!! Good old Vauxhall, still the working mans marque and fair play to them!

Anyway Barchetta, it seems you know a thing or two about lowering the Eos. All I want is to drop mine say 20mm further, whats the best approach? Your looks great but is just a tad too low for my taste. With your coilover kit, is there ant degree of comfort left over, or is this a stupid question?? I want to try and retain some ride quality if this is possible as going from 17" to 18", to be honest, hasnt altered the ride atall which is good.

Good questions.

When I first got the EOS it was on standard suspension. I initially changed to eibach lowering springs, it just wasnt quite low enough for the look that I wanted, even though they were 30mm lower

I then went for the KW coilovers, they are superbly adjustable and in my opinion very good indeed.

The ride quality does suffer a tadge, speed bumps are not good, but I just moderate my speed and turn the steering wheel slightly as you go over the hump and its fine.

I paid £179 for the eibachs, the KW's were £899 plus fitting.

My Eibachs are up for sale at the moment at £100, they were on the car a week and I did 60 miles in them.

Regards
