Well it has been fun while it lasted, but I've never loved my Eos like my previous cars :-(

So I test drove the new VW Tiguan yesterday and placed an order. Got a good price for the Eos though.

Sigh! A bit sad... and I've only had the roof down about 10times due to our awful summer last year so had no opportunity to really appreciate it.

Enjoy everyone!

Ooh! sorry to hear you are saying bye to your Eos.
You're the second person on this forum to go from Eos to Tiguan.
I must check one out!
Cheers, David

Looks like a good vehicle for a one car family (especially with a couple of kiddies.)

Still, it also looks like a BORING ride compared to the Eos. Definitely not for me.

Can't be any worse than our Ford Escape (I think they call it the Maverick overseas). I think a Tiguan would be a nice replacement for it. It would be our do all and bad weather car and the Eos would be the fun car.

Hi Karen... well at least you stick with a VW...
I just would not compare the EOS and a Tiguan... In both cases, and to be blunt, they are the reasonable feature/pricce versions of a Mercedes SLK and a BMW X5... But that's all they share... While the EOS is about glamour, sport, pleasure of driving with roof opened, the Tiguan is more of a toy and just opposite in terms of driving pleasure ; the EOS has you seated as in a coupé, while the Tiguan has you seat like in a truck... I could not trade one for the other... Just different experiences! ;-) Fred

Actually it came as a 2 door and and a 4door. My dad had a 2 door and considering when it was made wasn't a bad car but not great either. And there were uglier cars available at the time.

Just to clarify

The Tiguan isn't a substitute for the Eos... I am not trying to replace the experiences I have had... which haven't been that great.

I replaced my GTi with the EOS and never found the Eos as exciting and fun as that. In fact the Tiguan is a practical replacement for me until the Mark 6 GTi appears in 18mths or so. I honestly couldn't see myself driving the Eos for that long.

It just isn't for me... personally, I HATE all the other converts especially the Megane and Focus and I shudder when I see my Eos as I think it looks too much like them. In fact once or twice I have mistaken a megane for an EOS out of the corner of my eye.

Roof down is great... it looks very very sexy with it down, but roof up just isn't to my taste and the way the summers are going, I can't keep a car that I only enjoy and like for a few weeks a year!

Then of course, better drive a car you feel ok with! Then you should try the Golf R32... When I bought the EOS, I tried the SLK (2 seater was a NoGo) and the R32 (almost signed for a turquoise, white leather...)... But last minute, an elderly lady walked in. The dealer knew here very well and told me her story: she was coming to buy an R32 to replace her GTI that she was offering her grandson. SHe was 82 years ols, and drove away in her R32 that day... With all respect, I just could not drive THAT car after this!!!! ;-)

She may be older, but you gotta love her spirit. I wonder if she knows a certain little old lady from Pasadena...

What confuses me somewhat is you went from a GTI that you felt was more fun to an Eos which was less fun. Now you want a Tiguan which will probably by less fun as a fill in until the next GTI. The Eos was never claimed to be as sporty to drive as a GTI and its biggest feature was its top which you didn't get a chance to enjoy.

The Eos is the closest to a convertable GTi which is what I would have had should it have been available. The Eos was the next best thing, at least in my mind. That may have been the thought in Karen's mind as well.

I do take your point about the Tiguan though its like comparing chalk and cheese.

Already done! www.mytiguan.co.uk.... sister site to www.mytreg.co.uk

But to reply to the Chalk and Cheese 'debate'. I've never compared the cars. Simply said that the Eos has never been the car I hoped it would be really. I am not trying to emulate the thrill of driving my Eos roof down. I just am unhappy with the Eos overall and want a change. The Tig I've ordered is fully specced and I think it will be a bit 'fun' at times - especially with the cool Park Assist!

And as for the R32..... my BORING brother in law has one and they are a bit common round here! I was amazed when I drove one a while ago and did think the V6 Eos may be somewhat the same... but it ain't!The lack of 4 WD means that it can't be driven too hard in low gears! Once it is away from the lights, it flies.. but ...........

The tiguan will keep me happy for a while I think! I can always change AGAIN if I'm not!
