It hasn't rained in Melbourne for 27 days and we are desperate for rain
And this weekend it is raining at last, but alas I cannot go topless driving! After two days with the roof up I think I am developing cabin fever!

Yeah I know, We need rain desperately to fill the dams and keep the gardens alive And I want to go cruising with the roof down. Obviously I cant have my cake and eat it too, but I suppose we need rain more than anything and the rain will stop. I did open the sunrood for a while today so that helped satisfy my needsYou gotta be careful what you wish for !!!!!
Think you're right. It couldn't possible rain over there because it's all over here. Don't actually remember the last day it didn't rain. Was it 2 months ago? 3?I think the reason for the rain delay was due to its unwanted holiday period over the UK. We definitely have cabin fever. Its either to wet or cold to get the roof off.
Cheers
Hi AndyWish we had your rain problem. Today it is going to warm up enough to snow!
Yes there is terrible flooding over here, not where I am but other parts of the UK its a nitemare, still lets not worry about drainage problems when we can spend billions on the Olympics. Its flooded near me! you can have our rain please

Hello DannyHi Andy
Have you had your roof down during your winter at all? What would be your typical min and max temps (C or F) in the middle of winter? What would be your sunrise and sunset times in the middle of winter?
Danny
Hi Andy
Maybe I shouldn't complain about cabin fever here, so your sunny 30 degree F day equates to minus 1.111 degrees C which is very very cold. And you are going topless in that, you need a medal! We think its very cold in winter if the max doesn't get to double digit figures (your 48 F). It is hard for us in Oz to imagine living in a climate like that. Do the rubber components on cars go hard and brittle? Enjoy your next sunny dayOh and I forgot, last year it snowed where I work (Mt Dandenong) which is 600m above sea level. The first snow in seven years. Outside temp got down to 0.5 C. Snow was a real novelty for us!
Actually Danny I've never seen it get that cold where rubber gets brittle. My guess is it would have to get down to minus 70F or worse for that to happen. At minus 10F or worse if a car is left out long enough, the tires will develop a flat spot but will go away once you drive a little bit. Other things that happen as it gets that cold, regular oil starts to get thick as does engine coolant which must be sufficient for the temperaure so it doesn't freeze. Diesel fuel starts to gel. Rubber will get stiffer. Everything seems to rattle and squeak more. It's not as bad as it sounds. You and your car just have to be ready for that kind of weather. By the way I'm sorry if it sounded like I normally drive around at 30F with the top down. I've only done that once while I was moving the car around trying to get the right angles for some winter pictures. Like an idiot I was also wearing a Hawaiian shirt with no coat. What I meant with the next sunny day was to say maybe I should do that just for the heck of it. Sorry about any confusion.Hi Andy
