As "grey nomads" already with a R51 Pathfinder & caravan, we expect to take delivery of a silver TDi DSG Eos with Deep Red Nappa leather in mid January.

I had a car bra on a Mazda MX-6 some years ago and found it very effective against stone chips and bugs etc. I found out there is a version available for the Eos for $470 and wondered if if anyone has seen or used one - or is an Eos meant only to be a town cruiser.

As we intend to use the Eos for trips on country roads around Canberra and down to the south coast I think the Bra would be a worthwhile investment.

Would appreciate any comments.

Horses for courses I think, but not something I'd want. You can get various types of transparent protection films that protect against stone chips etc.

I wouldn't say the EOS was just a town cruiser but more of a grand tourer. It's perhaps not best suited for rough roads - when fully laden the ground clearance is about 4" (106mm).

Car bra

Thanks BobP

but as you say.... horses for courses. From my experience of driving in the UK, albiet quite a few years ago, the roads are quite different and we are liable to have a higher incidence of stone chips and bugs out in the colonies. I have had a look at the transparent film kits available from a company called ALTREX, but as the Bra is so easy to slip on when hitting the open road I'll probably go with it.

Here's my two cents worth. I had a cloth bra on my scirroco and it was effective, but not all that attractive and damages the paint. For my new Eos, I had a professionally installed 3M clear bra put on and I am very pleased with it. We take many road trips and it has protected the front clip very well and looks great (well, you can't really see it). Cost $450 U.S. to cover all of the front, about 12" of the hood and side fender. Wouldn't do it any other way again.
