Car has been awaiting shipping for two weeks!

Hey all,

I have been calling my VW dealer constantly and all I am told is that my Eos is awaiting Shipping. This has been the case for the last two weeks! Has anyone experienced anything similar.

My Eos was ordered on the 28th February 2007 and was given build week 24 (9th June). My Car was built on this date but has not shipped since. So far I have been waiting four months.

My dealer did advise earlier this week that my Eos was on their transportation list but then removed together with someone elses Eos. Only Golf's/Polo's etc coming through.

My Eos is a simple non-sport 2.0 FSI in Silver Essence with Lux Pack, Wind Deflector and Climate but thats about it as far as options go. No Leather and standard stereo/wheels etc.

All I think of is there must be problems over in Portugal, any ideas would be appreciated, i'm getting very restless.

Shipping delays

Matt,

I had a similar long wait for my Eos. I ordered at the end of January 2007 and only took delivery on 8th June 2007.

There seems to be a delay between the end of the production process and the shipping of the vehicle to Germany where it is given a final check over before being shipped to the destination country.

I think they hold the vehicles in Portugal until there are enough of them to fill a boat transporting them to Germany, and again another wait in Germany for enough vehicles to fill a boat to the destination country.

It only took 2 days for my Eos to reach the dealer once it had left Germany, so you shouldn’t have long to wait!

I hope you have a better experience with your Eos than mine so far. On collection of my vehicle, my dealer reversed it into another vehicle on the forecourt and it is currently at the dealer so they can repair my leaking roof (we have had a lot of rain up north though!) – it isn’t even 3 weeks old yet!

been told mine was shipped to UK last w/e, waiting to hear from dealer now, car ordered 6th April. Was told that cars are delayed prior to shipment as PDI is done in Germany no when they arrive in UK
Hey thanks for your responses.

Mateos, you seem to have had a very quick turn around indeed, lucky you!

Jonny, sad to hear you have had such bad experiences. However, I do hear that a boat is more useful up north at the moment than an Eos. Perhaps some Eos's are being used as boats right now!

I guess that would explain why I was told my vehicle was shipping (i.e. in transit) then told it was awaiting shipping. It must be in Germany at the moment. Hopefully this means i'm a few days off getting hold of my car!

Can't wait! So excited plus Girlfriend is fed up hearing about it.

Hi Comet30

Ordered mine on 23 February after dealer assuring me it would be 12 weeks which would mean I would expect it in the middle of May (Ha!). In reality it wasn’t allowed onto the VW “Dialog” ordering system till 4 April (something to do with joining a waiting list which allows VW to keep the number of imports down in the UK).

It then sat on the system for another two weeks (apparently to allow any last minute changes), Dialog then allocated a build week beginning 28 May. It was actually built on the 30 May and it then sat in the Portuguese factory car park for a week or two collecting bird droppings before it got moved to the distribution port, where it sat in the car park at the port collecting more bird crap! It went to Germany on 21st June for QC checks, was shipped out and has now just arrived in Grimsby. Dealer has put a priority on it so should have it early next week. Dam I bet it will be raining!

Try calling VW cust service if you have engine number from your dealer. or just give build date and your name. They are quite helpful in telling you where your car is its 0800 711 811.

Hope you get it soon matey,
Cheers, David

Was told today that our car will be in the UK by the end of next week (around 6th July) and we should be able to take delivery on Saturday 14th July.

Here's hoping...
Hi Gavin,
Best of luck with your delivery date. Hopefully it will have stopped raining by then and you can have the joys of open top Eos driving.

Cheers

Exactly 1 year to the day since I got mine (Friday 14/07/2006).

Happy Eosing!

Hey, thanks for responses. I telephoned VW Customer Services, they said they would have to open a case etc and investigate. I said that there was no need for that, thought they could just look on screen. Not to worry.
