I have the same code on my 2010. My local shop that read the code told me it's a intake manifold runner circuit malfunction. I don't know what that means but it sounds expensive. He suggested I take it to the dealer. I came here hoping to get a little info before heading to the dealership. Anyone??
I would be interested in hearing whether owners have had experience of fitting the DieselGeek part. I am seriously considering fitting it as a preventive measure on my UK 09 plate TDI (Engine code CBAB), mileage 85k. A good idea?????
Web posts say this common problem on vag cars is caused by plastic stop pegs wearing out. I've not seen inside so I'm guessing the flap motor angle feedback then comes back 'out of range' or the flap sticks on worn pegs and sets the P2015 fault code.
My first thought would be to see if the OE part can be repaired or improved by just replacing the stops. Or perhaps there's another issue like a wearing flap spindle shaft? If that is the case I think I would be either replacing the part or looking at re-bushing if feasible.
The fix offered by DieselGeek looks simple to fit and not expensive therefore making it attractive. But I would want to be sure there is no other wearing part contributing to the problem.
Have you found a U.K supplier for their flap motor modification?
1. Please make sure the motor arm is cycling back and forth just after the motor is shut off first (watch video on how to release stuck arm here - https://vid.me/S9vf) If not, please pull it into range while the motor is running.
(Not confirming motor movement may keep the P2015 code from being removed by the bracket install, so this is important to confirm before you remove the motor to install our bracket)
2. Remove only the intake flapper motor (aluminum) or remove the flapper motor and manifold (European black plastic manifold), align the bracket, reinstall the flapper motor - paying attention to the proper alignment, flush with the motor arm–
3. Make sure the dog bone gets seated back on top of the ball or you will have issues clearing the code
4. Does anybody have links to the EGR info blocks given by vcds/vagcom and what they mean in the real world?
I had the MIL, glow plug light and same fault come up on another VAG (not EOS) later common rail TDi. The car gets babied with local mileage so I took it out for a good thrashing with hard up and down acceleration to 4.5K rpm then put in engine cleaner and repeated. The warning lights are out, no limp mode, but I'm monitoring for further fault codes.
The EGR on TDis is such a labor intensive task just to look at it and I'm wondering if there is any info to interpret what comes back from vcds? I'm also going to look at the electronic side of the EGR system to try and make sense of the sensor voltages and controls before digging in deeper and removing parts.
Incidentally, I found something important for those with TDIs about using low ash engine oils. When I last bought oil they checked my EOS VIN and said there were 2 versions of a similar engine oil - not just synthetic, mixed or non-synthetic. Now I know why. Low ash oils are recommended for DPF TDis which is most of them! In addition there is a VW TSB referring to oil for the older EOS PD (BMM) diesel engine which is in MY07. Read requirements for VW certified oil specs 505.01, 506.01 and 507.00. When choosing alternative (cheaper) oils, make sure they contain that specification.
I had the same problem on my 2016 (manufactured in 9/15) Eos with a 2.0 gas turbo engine at just under 26K miles. The dealer replaced the intake manifold part # V,06J133201BD using repair kit # V,06J998907B. They did this under the original 3 year, 36K mile warranty. I called VWOA today and asked about an extended warranty for this problem (as all my research shows this will happen again). They said there was nothing on file for this. Did they give you a campaign number or any further official information about this?
