I will be taking my chipped Eos to the track this week or next and report on the 1/4 mile performance soon after. I am eager to test its performance on the track since I had the 93 chip software installed (basically a compression boost). Since I have the ability to "toggle" between standard performance and 93 performance, I will attempt several runs under both settings for comparison.

Ditto here, I am very interested in not only your performace numbers but your overall impression oh how the car behaves chipped. If I'm not mistaken Daishi he got the APR chip; http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/ecu_upgrade_eos.html which is the one I am considering.

A 25%+ performance improvement for $600 is a crazy bargain. BTW does that price include installation?? Now I just have to figure out how to tell the wife?!?! ;)

I have the APR-93 chip and can definitely feel the difference. Off the line pulls extremely hard; however, it is VERY easy to simply turn over the wheels. Passing performance is greatly improved. When I go to the track next week, I will take several runs with and without the tuning...I am able to toggle between stock and performance. My interest is to see if the tuned chip greatly out-performs the stock chip. As we all know, spinning the wheels gets you nowhere quickly! The chip cost me $800...APR-93 with ability to toggle between stock and performance. When toggled to stock, the dealer can not detect the tuned chip - important for potential warranty issues.

yeah i was thinking apr or revo but im not sure yet.. i may go revo since you can just plug in the unit they sell and tune it further. i havent fully decided yet. warranty isnt an issue for me since i work at a vw dealership and i bring it to the tech in the back that i know and he will warranty anything i do to the car. i put the intake in the other day and i also ordered the forge diverter valve so i can put that in and get my car chipped on the 20th. :)

I just had the APR Stage 1 93 done. I really like it. I have not had a good chance to push it yet but so far would agree with Deanintemp. I also got the ability to swap between stock and Stage 1. Currently they are on sale, I think through July. I got mine done for $600. I went with APR because I could swap programs, I felt they were a strong VW aftermarket company, the local Euro Car shop could do it, and the sale.

Also I would highly recommend vwvortex for technical related info;

VWVortex
Their EOS Forum;

and their 2.0T FSI forum;

I'm Kong99 there.

OK, I am finally going to the track tonight (barring rain). I will attempt to take six runs; three with stock tuning and three with chipped tuning. I will post the results this evening or tomorrow.

I have never been to the track before, except to watch my son run his chipped Saturn Ion red line. Get out-da-way, a noobs comin down...

Base figures show an increment to 255horse with 399 torque. Will dyno it and let u guys know the results :D

Mine is chipped with Unitronic, the flat torque is awesome, can see a constant spool of 15-21psi on my boost gauge, previously the boost rises and falls just as fast.

Only thing is to tackle the DSG issue, it seems to be 'retarded' at some flat spots and best to use the shift paddles or simply S mode to get outta situation, e.g. low speed and sudden WOT

Sorry for the anticipation; heavy rains kept me from going to the track last night. I will try again next week and keep you posted.

torque

Tortoise,
Is the car driveable with 399lb-ft of torque? I like the idea of chipping the car, but since sometimes I spin the wheels of the 2.0T (200hp, 207lb-ft standard) engine as it is, I'm wondering how much smoke I'd make in day to day driving and how many sets of tires I'd go through :confused:

I'm on the same Unitronics Stage 1+ map and yes it's defintiely driveable, This canadian tuner style is to keep the mid to high rev touque flat hence enhancing the pull to red line much much better compare to stock.

I used to experienced wheel spin at start off but the loss steam pretty quickly pulling to red line while on stock pgm. The awesome torque can really create smoke but now I move off pretty relax (light footed) and accelerate more on the move and the car just continue to pull strongly to red line:D passing the legal speed so much quicker.

This is definitely some aweful cheap investment for the increase in power and torque! FC do get affected as it's much more responsive vs before and my heavy right foot is the damn problem to the drop in FC. Now I have to go on cruise control on highway to keep my right foot away for a while.:p

The torque is kinda flat through the rpm and thus highway is very good for that, in fact its more drivable than before! U know the EOS seems to be draggy in the acceleration in stock form but a chipped up can send us up the Heavens with a big smile :D

I dun accelerate sudden or WOT much from standstill tho its fun to do that now, but dun do that in the wet, traction sucks <prob I m used to my previous STI and Evo> so practise caution in the wet :D

Dry wise, no problem, wheel spin is very obvious tho not as fun as my wife's MK V GTI :D

Well, I made it to the track last night (Milan Speedway in Milan, MI). First, I must say that this was my very first time at a track and I had no clue as to what I was doing! Anyway, as busy as it was, I was able to get three runs of each in (going up against the likes of Corvette Z06's!).

Standard program:
Average 1/4 mile time...15.5720 seconds
Best 1/4 mile time...15.3865 seconds

Average 1/4 mile speed...93.31 mph
Best 1/4 mile speed...93.52 mph

Chipped program:
Average 1/4 mile time...14.9634 seconds
Best 1/4 mile time...14.7453 seconds

Average 1/4 mile speed...97.15 mph
Best 1/4 mile speed...97.89 mph

In short, the chipped program ran greater than 1/2 second better and 4 mph faster...not a huge difference but noticeable. However, I do think that with more experience the chipped performance would improve to the low-mid 14's and quite possibly higher 90's in speed. It was somewhat difficult to control wheel spin at launch with the chipped program and that is where more experience would improve the overall numbers. Better tires would also be an advantage.

Keep in mind that a 1/2-second improvement is about 6-8 car lengths over 1/4 mile track.

The first stock Corvette Z06 I ran against finished in 12.0897 seconds at 128.44 mph! Whatever...
