is often linked to with reference to making the EOS / GOLF display an accurate indication of speed in the temperature LCD. The instructions suggest this is achieved by use of the ECON button in combination with some other actions. As I have the 2Zone electronic climate control I do not have an ECON button. Does anyone know how to activate this mode on my model?

Okay the easy answer is that your button marked AC is marked ECON on my system.

The not so easy part is that with the ECON light selected on with my system the air conditioning system is OFF. One would assume that the AC light on with your system would indicate that the air conditioning system is ON.

Seems a bit strange to me but give it a go. :D

why can't they all be the same... seems like more work for the AC system to differ so much. I understand about emissions and such, but this seems un-necessary.

Checked my speed today on the autoroute. I set the cruise control to 140kph & over a 15km section the readout showed consistly 131kph.
I'm surprised there is such a difference. More than 6% fast seems excessive even if VW are playing safe
Anyone else found the same.

Yep. Very similar disparity.
I found the same was the case on my old Passat. Noticed it because my TomTom was reporting my speed as quite a bit slower than my speedo. Figured my GPS should be correct.
I agree, 6% does seem excessive. Would explain why I get less speeding tickets that think I probably deserve ;)

How Does This Effect The Odometer?

If the speedometer is set at appx 6% more than what true speed is, does this mean that the odometer will also show true mileage plus 6%? If so, that blows when it comes time for resale. If I go to sell it at 50,000 miles, then does the car really only have 47,000 "true" miles?

We know the EOS actually knows it's real speed (as you can get it up on the climatronic display). I think it could equally be the case that the odometer is actually a true measure of distance.

Hey I tried this. It is fun. Does anyone know why it is more accurate than the speedo. I checked it with a GPS and the climate window is very close to the GPS speed.???

see ya
