I just got my Eos right before Christmas and I am having condensation issues on the back window and on the inside of the door frame. I also found trying to get the gas tank open isn't happening.... I was told an electrical issue but was fixed--NOT!
ANyone experiencing this problem and what might help. It has been discussed with dealer and service men but not a direct answer. They said it was clogged/kinked tubing and they fixed that, but to no avail the problem is still there!
I love my new car but very frustrated with this isse and want it fixed as I don't want to deal with this constantly.

Just a daft question but are you pulling the button thats on the drivers door near where the boot button is for your gas tank?

My fella was looking for one on his car before he realised he just had to flip open the flap.

yes pulling the button on the driver's door and also trying the side of the car but nothing works. The trunk also will not work at times to open. They said "it was all linked to an electrical error" which they supposedly fixed.

the trunk will only open remotely if both doors are unlocked but I assume you new that. However the door locks do not affect the fuel cap.

Good point, I did mean from the remote switch in the drivers door not from the fob.
Cheers

My bootlid opens from the door-switch when only the driver's door is unlocked (as the fob only unlocks the driver's door on first click and both doors by double-clicking).

Hi dawnnt
We also had an issue with gas door not opening. It would not open and we were almost out of gas. Had to take it home. Next day took it to vw dealership they had to pry it open. Had to order a new fuel door actuator and rod, according to the bill. VW Canada did not carry it so it came from VW USA, took a week to get here. Very frustrating :( thankfully no charge as this was under warranty. Hope this helps

That would be a real bummer if you were on a long trip and couldn't add gas. In the past, I think I had cars that had a manual gas cover release in the trunk.

Most cars with an auto-release flap have a manual one for emergencies in the boot (trunk) and surprised Eos doesn't have one. Will have a poke around next chance I get and see if I can see one!

Condensation

Hi
As far as condensation INSIDE the car, look nowheer else: there is a leak somewhere. Condensation INSIDE a vehicle will only occur from humidity staging insde the car...
good luck...

Fuel Flap not opening - Unable to add gas

This weekend was my 6th time taking my child (EOS) back to the dealer because I was unable to feed her, as her fuel flap would not open, and she does not have a manual override,as VW did not engineer her with one.

Who else has had this problem, what was the fix, and how long did the fix last.

I liken my EOS to my first car a MGB as to dependable transportation. When I had the B, I also had to have a second car (VW BUG) to drive when it was in the shop, now with the EOS I am considering purchasing a (VW BUG) for when the EOS is in the shop. The B had mainly electrical problems and the EOS has mainly FUEL FLAP problems.

EOS is a 2007.

HELP !!!

If you can hear the motor running to open your gas cap then the actuator pin is disconnected. It can be fixed in 5 minutes by opening the trunk and getting in behind the side panel and removing the motor and pin. Most likely the pin will pop back into the motor without any further repair needed.

This happened to our car.

What ever dealer is prying open a gas cover and breaking it... Is one to avoid and never go to again.

I have had the same problem -- 3 times. The next time I'm returning the car under our "lemon law." I don't know how to fix it, but I just figured out how to open the fuel door manually so you can drive to the dealer if you're low on gas (as I was):

Inside the trunk, pull out the liner that is tucked under the right side nearest to the fuel door (it's not secured by anything except it's underneath a metal strut). Once you've pulled it out, you'll see the fuel door mechanism (on my car it was a small white box with a silver rod extending from it). Push down or pull back on the silver rod and the fuel door will pop open.

Good luck!

We just had the same problem. The vwvortex.com web site had a number of reports on it.

Two possible occurrences:

a) ice build-up
b) an actual problem

I'm pretty sure it's not the weather - EOS is in the garage and I actually have a heater in her that runs for 2 hours every morning, keeping everything fairly warm.

Unfortunately, I only had 90km left in my tank when I discovered the problem. There were two noted DIY solutions:

a) try a credit card to open it. This really only appears to work if you have ice build-up around it.
b) find the actuacter (??) through the trunk (pictures available on the vwvortex site). This CAN'T be done with the EOS since you've got the roof mechanism in there.

So now with only 30km left (after getting back), and the ice not appearing to do it, our dealer noted that they saw a similar problem with a Rabbit where the actual pin had broken.

Oh joy...very frustrating.

Had the issue this week. Dealer said, "It's rare. Only seen two this month." TWO? DOH!

Here's a combat solution. First, unless you are Captain Hook, it's impossible to get to the fuel door access solenoid because the rear trunk or roof pillar hinge is in the way. Raise your roof a tad past half way. leave your car running in PARK and try access to it now. MUCH EASIER!!! Not completely easy but, at least you can get to the solenoid and pull the pin back to get the door open. Then leave the door slightly ajar until you get the problem resolved.

I am going to modify the solenoid with a coat hangar mod so that I can actuate it from the trunk, like VW SHOULD HAVE when they built the car.

The last time it worked correctly, the switch made a funny clunk. I am thinking the actual switch fell off or the switch plug block disconnected. Will report back when I figure out how to remove the door panel and find out what is going on inside the door.

Not good VW. Hard to enjoy the brand without a way to feed it.

This happened to me last December and my brother got it to open through the trunk, lubricated it, showed me how to wrap the wire around the cap and not let it stick out anywhere near the door and it hasnt happened again.. At least yet!

All these EOS issues all seem to be pretty common. Mine is consuming oil more than I'd consider normal. Minor leaks near windows but only in high pressured car washes. Little jumping with DSG. I live in fear wondering when it will break but its all worth it when driving with the top down on a sunny day. I had 2 VW convertibles growing up and had to go back for a 3rd. Love the cars but just wish they could perfect them.

I had a problem with my DSG jumping turned out I needed an updated mechatronic unit, luckily still under warranty. Mick
