Hey Sherryl

Need to know where you are located to answer that question as the Eos is specified differently depending on the country it is being sold in.

Hi Cheryl,

The only sports package equipped model is the V-6. None of the models with the 2.0 can be equipped with the sport package. Only the LUX has the kuxury package -- wood trim, leather seats, siena wheels, automatic standard. The turbo and Komfort models cannot get the Luxury package, the turbo is the most basic, Komfort has more features and options. You can go here: http://www2007.vw.com/vwfeatures/eos/en/us/ and click on the compare trim levels button. You might also think of going to a better informed dealer. :)

Cheryl, you might also want to check out that at your dealership (doesnt sound a good one your with at present) they have a technician that knows all about the EOS. It is a bit specialised and if their resident tec. isnt familiar with the machine, you might have probs. when you eventually get it and have any mechanical queries on it. It's a fantastic car, picked mine up on Saturday and just love it.

still confused

Thanks for the replies, there is NO doubt it is a stunning car, very different, I am not sure its the sales people that are not clued into what i am asking, rather that theyre not telling me the little details women like to ask, maybe i bettter explain myself properly, i have been to many VW dealerships here in Florda, some obviously with better product knowledge than others, but being a women i would want to purchase my car from someone nice-ish, if thats possible, anyhow, at the dealerships we have test driven a few different EOS'S ,
1-2007 manual 2.0 sport
2-2008 Auto Turbo
3-2008 Auto Comfort

all stunning, yet i really wanted a navigation system, and i am aware that there is no option with the turbo, which is the base, yet we have located 2 elsewhere ourselves , the one the one i like in thunder blue, the cream interior, a 2007 with navigation, and the other is a black with cream interior and also a 2007 with navigation and the sports package and this is what i am not sure what the difference is, because after all my researching the sport is considered the sports/luxury and is more expensive, so thats the choice i am having a hard time making,
So as you can see i am not sure its the sales people, its a woman thing, even though my husband is good and being very patient , theyre just letting us into the small difference of the 2 different packages.

You may want to look here for 2008 info http://www.vw.com/eos/completespecs/en/us/
Some of the main differences (in US 2007) was that you could opt for a Sport package and a Lux package. The main differences were the interior trims( Sport had brushed metal trim inserts and paddle shifters lux had wood trim and no paddle shifters), Wheel and suspension (Lux had 17 inch no other options while Sport had different 17 inch wheels with 18 inch as an option as well as stiffer shocks/larger sway bars),and slightly different seats.
As was previously mentioned Sport package is only available on the VR6 model. The ordering options changed a lot between the 07 and 08 models. I would also suggest that you may want to reconsider your Nav system option. VW has a better one in the pipeline but may not be available for another year or two. There are better aftermarket units out there at present and pricing is competitive. If you opt for the lux model you get a pretty good radio with 6disk changer. You will have to look at all the info you can and then go into a dealer. Some are very good others not so. Maybe one with a female salesperson might be more comfortable for you to deal with. In any event good luck with your search. The Eos , no matter how you equip it, is excellent!!

confused

thank you for all the advice, i am now trying to get my husband to understand me, phew, i have called up a few VW dealers and they have all said the sport, is a car that needs to be driven, and its not as smooth a ride as the turbo, komfort and lux , but anyhow looks like i have to test drive one, what my husband is trying to get me to understand is i drive a BMW 328i now and in terms its considered "sport" and i love the way it rides and hugs the road, so he says i should'nt rule out the sport because its available in the color i want with the nav , the issue is the word sport really worries me.

Hi, I purchased a 2007 Eos 2.0T with the Sport Package. I really like the way it rides and handles - I don't find it harsh at all. I recommend the 18" wheels upgrade which is available with the Sport Package. I also recommend the DSG transmission upgrade it is very good. I also use the Ipod adapter and Sat. Radio all the time.

The VW in-dash GPS is fine but I am using a $300 Garmin StreetPilot c530 it sits nice on the top of the dash above the radio, I move from car to car, and it fits in the Eos glovebox when I am not using it.

My Eos was factory equipped as follows:

Sport Package
6 Speed Automatic DSG Transmission
18" Alloy Wheels with All Season Tires
Ipod Adapter
Rubber Mats

The sticker price was $35,213 including $640 destination charge.

Here is some 2007 Eos review text from vwvortex.com:

U.S. Eos models will be divided into three model lines. A Base 2.0T model, only available with a manual transmission and little in the way of options, starts at $27,990. The next level up is a Package 1 Eos 2.0T($29,990) that includes leather steering wheel, shift knob and hand brake handle, automatic headlamps with coming home feature, dual-zone climatronic, 12-way power driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, heated front seats, heated washer nozzles, windblocker, center armrest and trip computer. Volkswagen's innovative DSG six-speed automatic is optional at $1,075.

From here we have to give Volkswagen of America some credit for offering either a luxury or sport option path with Package 2. Package 2 cars include everything from Package 1. The Package 2 Luxury models include leather seating, leather wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, wood trim, rain sensing wipers, premium sound, Sirius satellite radio prep, auto-dimming mirror, 12-way power passenger seat with adjustable lumbar support, and 17" LeMans alloy wheels with 235/45R17 all-season tires. If you opt instead for Package 2 Sport, you get leather sport seats, leather wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, brushed aluminum trim, rain sensing wipers, premium sound system, Sirius satellite radio prep, auto-dimming mirror, 12-way power driver and passenger seats with adjustable lumbar support, sport suspension and 17" Avignon alloy wheels with 235/45R17 all-season tires. Stand alone options for the 2.0T Package 2 cars include 18" Samarkand alloy wheels for $400, a fantastic Dynaudio premium sound system for $1,000, DVD-based Navigation system for $1,800 and Park Distance Control for $350.

The Eos also has the distinction of being brought over to the U.S. market with the same ride height as the German-specification model. Further, the optional Sport Package includes stiffer shocks and springs and increased rollbar diameter front and rear, identical to the European Eos models. Kudos to VW for bringing it over intact and resisting the urge to dilute the original formula.

Randy, we basically have the same car except I have the 17" wheels. Did not order mine, bought it off the lot (300 miles with sticker price $36,714 paid $34,500). Wish I had the park distance control and the home link. Do not think they were available with the Sports option. Received 3 months free satellite radio, just purchased it for another year. Great for listing to music from my early days.

Sherryl, better check into the NAV system. Have not read too many good reviews about it for the price. No matter what you purchase just consider getting all the factory installed options available. Don't be sorry later.

Mike, the 2007 Sport was available with the PDC if you ordered the Lux,
Sport, or V6 options.

Randy, The sport suspension was available in Europe with a 15 mm drop. The drop never got here. When I ordered mine, the Sport package listed a sport suspension and every one thought it included the 15mm drop. When mine got here, there was no mention of the sport suspension anywhere on the window sticker. When I asked at the dealer they said "Sport" suspension was only stiffer shocks and larger sway bars. I measured height on my Sport with a Lux model and ride heights were the same. Both cars had 17 inch wheels and the same brand and size of tire.

Sherryl, if you are going to test drive a Sport model, 07 models has it on 2.0t and 3.2 models. 2008 only has it on the VR6 (3.2) model.

Hey Sherryl

My advice is based on coming from an E46 BMW Sport and if you enjoy your driving then I would say that the Sport with 18" wheels is the way to go. It is closer to a BMW in feel being well controlled but still with a reasonable ride. I found the car on normal suspension and 17" wheels just too soft for me. :)

From looking at the VWA website then if you want a 2008 Sport then you have to get a VR6 or if you want the 2.0 TFSI then you have to get a 2007. The advantage of going the 2007 route is you can have the car now if you find one in the spec that you want. Otherwise going down the 2008 route will allow you to get a car that matches your ideal spec.

So pics of my car are here however it is obviously an Australian spec car and the steering wheel IS on the right side :D

If I understand things right, what VW calls "sport" suspension in the USA Eos model is the "standard" European Eos suspension setup. What VW calls "sport" in Europe is not available on US models. Without the "sport" package the Eos gets softer springs with smaller sway bars.

To clarify, I did not have my dealer add in-dash GPS to my Eos. I just have the standard USA 'type 2' in-dash radio with 6-disc CD changer and Sat. Radio. The Ipod adapter use the external CD changer connector on the radio and the external CD changer control functions of the radio. There are other threads in the club on this - it is not the greatest user interface but it works OK.

Worldwide the Eos gets the same suspension pieces in all models except Sport. Non US Sport gets different springs to lower the car 15mm as well as Stiffer shocks/struts and different sway bars. US Sport gets all the pieces except the springs. If I remember correctly non US Sport packages also don't get the lowering springs with 18 inch wheels.
