Hi all!

Has anyone prchased the custom suitcases for the Eos?

If so, how would you rate the quality?

Could anyone provide the measurements of the custom suitcases ? I was hoping I might already have a standard piece of luggage that would fit in the space provided. (I am in standby mode for another 14 weeks, so I can't do a fit test in my own Eos. If all else fails, I will order those suitcases ahead, in hopes I can travel soon after my car arrives.)

Thanks! Roberta

Hi Roberta,

I'm sorry I can't give you a direct answer to your query; but if you don't get answers here, I know where you can! The custom suitcases you are interested in are sold in US by OEMPLUS and their website is http://oempl.us/ This firm imports a broad range of VW accessories. I have bought from them .... the products are good and the service is reliable.

You can contact them through their website, and I'm sure they should be able to tell you the dimensions. As a matter of fact, something tells me they have some in stock from a customer cancellation, so could probably answer your question and give you prompt delivery.

Good luck,

Thanks for the info -- so many goodies for the Eos. This could get VERY expensive! :)

Thought I would add this info from Schoolhousefred's post under "boot dimensions"

These measurements are for the 2.0 models -- the V-6 boot has less room!!!

"Took a couple of minutes to quickly check the measurements. If the internal cover is in the up postion the dimensions of the internal section are:
Front to Back 32"
Side to Side 31"
Height 21 1/2 "
If the cover is lowered (roof is down), then the Height is reduced to 12 1/2"
The above excludes the two little wings on each side, which are are available to stuff things in when the roof is up. If you tried to put poles in and place them in side to side, then you would have a maximum width of 54" available by extending into these wings. Hope this helps."

With his help I was able to determine with the top down a 24" pullman case (the kind with wheels and a pull up handle) will fit comfortably even if it has an expandable top. A larger size pullman bag might be too high. Two standard airline "carry-on" bags will fit side by side.

The VW Custom luggase costs $145 US for each. Hope that is helpful.

More!

Well, I can supply you with many more .... I have added sport pedals, rear spoiler, chrome door handle covers, chrome mirror covers, rear camera, matching storage compartment under passenger seat. Not to mention new hats and clothes my wife had to have to protect her from the sun! Can give you sources for any of these categories. (except clothes!)

Cheers,

I just got the custom suitcases today. They're quite beautiful and I highly recommend them, though I haven't tried to pack them yet.

Actually, my mother fell in love with them instantly, and has now ordered a V6 suitcase for her travel. This in spite she doesn't own a car :p

They fit perfectly in the trunk, and there is just enough room left for the wind breaker can be placed on top of it.

The dimensions for one suitcase (not V6 format), is:
Height: 30 cm / 11,8 in
Width: 36 cm / 14,2 in
Lenght: 75 cm / 29,5 in

But remember if you own a V6, you should order a special suitcase.

The VW-part numbers are:
1.6, 2,0 engines: 1F0084002 041
3,2 engines: 1F0084001 041

Suitcases

Just to add my support to the 'suitcases' debate.
We purchased, from the dealer, twin set suitcases as an accessory when we bought our Eos in March. They are excellent value and of a very high quality and fit perfectly into the boot space (trunk? to our American cousins), thereby maximising the available space with the roof down.
They have retracting handles & little wheels for transporting on the ground, and are resplendant in black with cream trim AND the Eos logo - can I say more (perhaps I should have been a salesman)> + lots of little pockets and handy zip compartments - they are not heavy.
They cost £120 for the pair, which would be about $240 (?) - not bad for a set of bespoke cases. Dimensions per case (taken from the Eos accessories booklet):

Height - 760mm Width - 365mm Depth 305mm

Sorry the measurements are in mm's, hope this helps.

I wanted to purchase the two suitcases for the Eos, but couldn't wait for delivery of them. We ended up going on a Eos Driving Adventure shortly after getting the car.

What I ended up getting was a rolling duffel style bag from costco that cost around 90 bucks and fits perfectly within the trunk.

The one I bought is found HERE

It has lots of room, rolls with a pop-up handle, and is very convenient. In Canada, to buy the Eos specialized cases was going to cost far more (far far more).

I also find it really convenient to use the wheels to help "move" the case into the trunk. :)

If you own a US Eos model, the toolkit in the trunk makes it impossible to fit two in without removing the tool kit. The spare tire in the trunk makes it so that the tools cannot be in the wheel area. In Europe the cars do not have spare tires so the tool kit goes there. Just an FYI.

True enough. That's why I like the soft sided bags that I bought. The toolkit has no problem fitting in with them. Along with all the other safety stuff I have. Plenty of room back there.

That link you gave is for the USA Costco site. They won't deliver to Canada. The closest one I could find on the Canadian Costco site is this one http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10289264&whse=BCCA&Ne=4000000&eCat=BCCA|108|2502&N=4009078&Mo=22&No=11&ViewAll=23&Nr=P_CatalogName:BCCA&cat=2502&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-CA&Sp=C&topnav= do you think this one is very similar to what you have?

No spare wheel? What on earth's that round thing under the floor of my trunk?! looks suspiciously like a space-saver spare to me! Maybe UK doesn't count as Europe..?!

No, that one looks to be a harder outer shell than the one I have. The best way to describe the case I got is to say it is a duffel bag, with many pockets and compartments and wheels with an extending handle.

Strange that Costco.ca doesn't have it listed because that's where I bought it from. Didn't realize that the Canada and USA sites have different products online (even though I know they have different products in the stores).

The Garmin GPS that I bought from them shipped from the USA... :(

Anyway, I will try and get a few pictures of the case so that you can see exactly how it fits in the car. I was amazed at the amount of things I was able to pack into the Eos and still have the roof down.

Not sure about the UK, I am pretty sure that the rest of Europe may not have the small spare tire. Instead they have a Styrofoam insert there that holds the toolkit. I guess it depends on the rules of the country as to whether a spare tire is included or not.

I just was repeating the problems that others have had with US models fitting the two suitcases side by side in the trunk. I had read that those suitcases were designed for the Eos models that did not have a spare tire.

The French cars also have the spacesaver spare wheel.:D
So no problem with boot (trunk) space here.

Happy EDA's
Jim.

Would like to see the case you have. I am leaving for Vancouver on Sunday, then off to San Diego on Monday. My first long EDA. I am hoping the weather will hold out so I can go "topless" there and back!

I'd be happy to show you the case in person, if you are in the Vancouver area. If you are interested in getting together, private message me and we can share contact information (cell phone numbers) so that we can arrange a place.

Bad thing? The weather isn't supposed to be nice this weekend, however, I'm not sure about next week.

Not sure if Costco locally has any more, however, I'd be happy to take you there to look and see. I'm really happy with the case quality... I still have not taken any pics yet (no excuse other than laziness) :)
