We've had 60 in Victoria, of which 3 are still operating.
I tend to think that the real eastate that they take up, for the number of patron that they can fit, make the economics hard to justify.
Having said that, I still remember going as a little tacker, in my dressing gown as we all did, watching the first feature, getting an icecream and playing on the swings and slides at half time, and then going to sleep in the back of the car, as the second feature tended to be more for Mum and Dad.
And of course, once you had your own car, going to the drive in with the girl friend, hopping in the back seat to watch the film, and then not watching it at all.
