Hi

Does anyone know if the dealer fit cruise control (£150 fitted as opposed to £270 from factory!!) can be done with the MF sterring wheel with gearshift paddles (as are fitted to my 2.0TFSI DSG) ? I'm wondering if the wiper stalk (which I believe is replaced with a stalk incorporating the cruise) is integral to the sterring wheel with paddles ie it's too big a job if you have the paddles.

Anyone ?

Thanks

I don't have the multi function but had cruise fitted two weeks ago (£150) its just the stalk that is replaced all the other 'gubbins' are already in the car so cant see the MF steering wheel being a problem. They have to reprogramme the on board computer afterwards but that seems straightforward.

Thanks David.

I'l probably get it done at the first service in January 08. My local dealer never carries parts in any quantity so I guess I'd better make sure I order it up well in advance. What's your experience of the cruise thus far ?

I'm hoping there isn't a problem as that's what I'm doing. My EOS will come with the paddle shifts and I'm having dealer fit CC. I'd hope that if there was an incompatibility it would have been noted in the brochure.

Cruise Control

Hi
I had the dealer fit the cruise control unit to my last Eos (£150) which had the MF steering wheel, when I got the car back the radio mute button would not work and they had managed to leave an indentation on the leather wheel which would not come out, so when my second Eos was ordered I opted to have the cruse control fitted at the factory (£270).
I know there is £120 difference having the dealer fit it, but I was not prepared to take the chance on having the same thing happen again.
It's the indicator stalk that is replaced and not the wiper switch and there is no difference between the factory fit and the dealer fit.
I did contact VW customer services about why the difference in price as both units are identical, but they could not give me an answer.

Interested to hear that (like me) you are on your second Eos - my first was a diesel Sport manual - dealer took it back after they failed to order the correct audio - car arrived with 4 speakers not 8.

In January my second arrived - T-FSI with DSG box.

what's yours ? I'm on southside of Glasgow so will look out for you if I'm in sunny Lanarkshire.

Dealer fit cruise control - update

dealer came back on friday and confirmed that CC can be fitted to cars with MFSW like mine - paddles make no difference either.

My Eos was with them for 6 weeks to have new seals fitted (I'm still waiting to see if there's any moisture getting in but early signs are good).

They've offered to do the CC for nothing for me "as a goodwill gesture". Once I'm satisfied that the car is watertight I'll get it booked in for the CC to be fitted.

Hi Peter
Yes I waited six months for my first Eos to be delivered only to discover it was not to the Sec I had paid for, so we came to an agreement with the dealer that I would use the first Eos until the Second Eos arrived, but I took this opportunity to upgrade the Spec on the second car, like red nappa leather and full air con, which I paid for when the car was delivered, it only took half the time of the first one to arrive, may be the dealer had one up his sleeve and was making sure that I didn't put to many miles on the first Eos.
My Eos is a Sport 2TDI with DSG and MF Paddle shift steering wheel, red leather seats Winter pack, Lighting pack, C Control, six CD player finished in Metallic black, 18" Road wheels and I have fitted a Blue-tooth Phone connection which works when you press the controls on the MF steering wheel, plus under seat storage drawers, think that's all?

Sounds like you got a good outcome on the second car. Spec is fantastic.
Mine is 2.0T-FSI with DSG in metallic black, 18" Chicago wheels (which really suit the car in my view), luxury pack, beige vienna leather, multi function wheel with paddles, Dynaudio soundpack and 6 CD changer and i-pod connection (not great functionality but my son insisted on it!!).

I wondered about the winter pack but the heated seats are included when you specify leather so i didn't reckon it was worth it for me. Having said that the heated washer jets would be good in a Scottish winter !

When the car's in to have CC fitted I think I'll ask them to change the coding for the door unlocking so that both doors open with one push on the remote. I realise the one push for driver's door and another for the passenger is a security feature but 99% of the time we open and close the car in our driveway well back from the road so not an issue.

Cheers

Hi Peter
The door locking can be changed by going into your computer settings and select Locks, then you can change for One or Two door opening.
Chicago wheels like mine looks good on the black car, but it's nearly impossible to touch them up if like mine you get a puncture and when it's being mended they manage to take some of the varnish off.

Hi
Can you let me know what you did and parts needed to fitted a Blue-tooth Phone connection which works when you press the controls on the MF steering wheel ?

I can't find anyone who knows how to do it where I live in Worcester.

Thanks

Hi Alf
It was the same up hear so I fitted it my self, the parts you will need is are a
Parrot kit CK3000 evolution and a Harness kit SW101 & QCVWS-2
The harness kit can be purchased from the USA and you should purchase the Parrot kit from the UK, I got mine from Amazon.co.uk.
It's quite straight forward just remove the radio/cd player and attach the harness between the radio/cd unit and the wire you have just taken out of it.
Connect the small black box supplied with the harness kit to the third connection on this harness, this replaces the Parrot control and allows the MF steering wheel buttons to be used, the hardest part of the job was running the Mic wire round to the vent at the mirror.
I have had mine fitted for four months now and it has been working fine you can even use it with the top down as you can increase the callers voice with the volume up/down buttons on the wheel.

Thanks for the tip on the door unlocking Bill - will try that tonight.

I dread the day I get a puncture or when my first tyres wear for the reason you mention - I think I'll stand over the fitter and watch him like a hawk !!

Cruise is great fun, did a motorway trip the other day, 44 miles, set the cruise at just over 70 mph and got 40mpg over the trip.
I expect I'll soon get bored with travelling at 70 though. :)
