Having had a bad experience with several dealers prior to purchasing Eos I would like to hear other peoples reactions to dealers during the sale process. My big tick goes to Camberwell VW for great service and attention.

Hi Fursten, can I ask who you dealt with at Camberwell? Ive ordered mine through Barloworld and have just been told my car which originally was ordered for Sept, now wont be here til Oct. Im quit annoyed but am not sure if its worth pulling out and going to another dealer, as Im not sure the timeframes would speed up at all.

Dealer satisfaction, Fursten:

You know, VW are little bit like the diamond market with EOS, keep the number down and residuals high. Now is that because they care or is it because of the increased take-up of lease/buy deals whereas the dealers will be selling these on at the end of the term? Nice to have a car that is a rare beasty though, it does enhance the whole experience. My dealer was very good, very polite. (Wolsey, Ipswich) The after-sales excellent. This is really quite surprising as they don't even have an EOS in the showroom but still get orders flowing in.Each dealer is limited on how many they are allocated so no chance of any 'deals' at all with this one - full ticket is the order of the day here but it was worth it. In fact the only place I have seen new one's on display in a showroom has been in France but then, THEY dont make them do they?:D

Actually I am not sure about deals, I was quoted one price of 63.5 and purchased at 58.5 Drive away.
They have wriggle room and also depends if saleman is trying to get his quota for month. Also depend on extras. all mine has was leather, electric seats.

I used a car broker

I'm hoping to get my EOS at the end of this month and I went through a car brokage company called Private Fleet (http://www.privatefleet.com.au/) who, back in Feb 07, managed to get $1.5k off my base model (diesel & manual, standard paint and wheels. Not optional features) EOS.

I spec-ed out what type of EOS I wanted from the BNE international car show and Private Fleet did the rest. I don't think one dealership has priority over the other.

Private Fleet have been ok. They started giving me monthly updates on the shipment which suddenly stopped because my 'account' manager left the company and then 2 months later, the updates starting coming again.

Currently, I am still expecting delivery at the end of the month...time will tell.

You can get deals on the EOS in the UK. I brought mine in April and managed to get £800 off by playing a broker and a garage off against each other. Brokers like 'uk car discount' now offer small discounts on the EOS.

Sorry you guys have to wait. :(

As far as deals go they were around but not sure with the current waiting list here on Oz.

Mine was a fleet deal through Fleet Australia.

As specified below in my signature it came out to less than $56,000 on the road. As the car is a novated lease I don't pay the GST as this is claimed back by my employer and this isn't included in the above price.

The came from Barloworld Mascot in Sydney through their Fleet Manager. Nice guy and no complaints about him. It would seem that VW has some problems getting information through to its dealers though. The last 2 cars were BMWs and they definitely have the whole customer service system done to a higher standard.

The car was ordered in December 06. Original build date was end of April but this moved to 23rd March. Car was shipped from Germany 26th April and arrived in Sydney 10th June and delivered to me on the 21st June.

From what I could follow your dealer has very little control after the order has been placed and are at the mercy of VW.

An update on my EOS, orginally ordered for 30 July delivery:

"I have just spoken with <name_removed>, he has advised me that all Volkswagen Eos orders in Australia have been delayed 6 to 8 weeks as there are manufacturing delays. He said that as soon as he knows more he will contact me."

Has anyone else heard about this?

Hi,

I would like to know if you saved any money by using a broker to buy the car for you. It seems in Australia that if you try and get any deals they dont seem to be interested. I also found that when I went into the showroom they dont seem very interested in selling the EOS.

Hi Jonesy, Im hoping thats not the case as Im already waiting 6 months for mine!

EOS regarding your post, I found VW dealers in general arent interested in selling you a car. I went to 4 dealers before purchasing mine and in no dealership was I approached, I had to go to reception each time and ask for a salesperson to speak to. I presented well and drove there in a BMW so its not like I wasnt looking like I could afford to buy one or something. Im not sure why they're like this but they dont seem to be interested.

Hi,

Yes. For my base model EOS the broker saved $1,500 which I believe is just the on-road costs, but a saving nevertheless. With this car being in demand, the dealers are not bargining (apparently). As part of the deal of using the broker, the broker has given me access to additional road side assistance and accident reporting/assistance service. I haven't read the finer details about this.....as my car seems so far away.

BTW, I was informed on Fri July 13 that I can expect another delay. I'm now looking at mid-Sep delivery. Let's check the scoreboard....

3 delays......3 months......."Not happy Jan"

If you are still waiting for your EOS and know the VIN number of the car, enter it at this site...

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/searchCargo.do?trackType=Auto

(you may need to refresh the screen if it gives you an error).

You should see the details of when it was loaded onto the ship and when it's due to arrive in port. You can also click on the voyage number to see where it's up to.

Not sure how long it takes between arriving in port and getting to your dealer but at least you can track the progress.
