I am about to take delivery of a new Eos (2.0 Sport TDI, DSG). I have been told by the dealer that the car was shipped from Portugal on November 28th to Emden for VW quality checks before onward shipment to the UK, Sheerness.
The dealer tells me that the car will probably be with them by the end of next week - December 12th.
Can anyone advise if, in their experience, that this is a realistic ETA? I did ask the dealer if there was any way that I could track its progress but was told that this could only be done by a VW dealer (security, etc.).
Would appreciate your views on this.

Kind regards,
John.

First of all congratulations!!

Second, you can't check yourself of where the car is only the dealer can do that. When i ordered mine last november i was told it would be here for march, i asked during the couple of months where it was up to and one day was told its still being built the next day it turned up at the dealership!!

Steph,
Sounds as though I may even be an 09 reg as opposed to a 58 reg! Watch this space & I'll give a progress report next week.

Kind regards,
John.

Congratulations :) Good thing if it is like ours was. The rep stated the date of arrival, and he was right on. Then he gave me a delivery to the dealer, they were actually a few days ahead of prediction. They should have pretty good info for you. Enjoy :D

Delivery times

Hi John

I took delivery of mine about 4 weeks ago, from the date we ordered it the time span was 11 weeks. When we ordered we where quoted 12 weeks then had all the nices from the dealer, it could be here in 8, its a quieter time of the year, not as many cars being bought etc, but in the end it was closer to the original quote of 12 weeks

Anyway enjoy when you get it

Hi Derek,
Thanks for your comments.
I should add that I didn't order mine from scratch so wasn't able to totally specify my ideal car. I was looking for a 2.0 Sport TDI with DSG. After that, I had to take what was offered from what was in the pipeline. I went to a company on the web who claimed to locate new cars at discounted prices. They contacted me about 2 days later, saying they had found a TDI with DSG & had negotiated a deal, saving about £2500 against list that I had been quoted from a local dealer. I accepted the deal & the dealer who is supplying the car agreed to take my 5 year old Avensis in part exchange. I could probably have got more for the Avensis if I was prepared to sell it myself. I will have to travel from Devon to Sussex to collect the car but will certainly look forward to the return part of the trip.
The good news is that I have just had a call from the dealer saying that my car is now in the country & should be ready to collect by next Wednesday, having had all its pre-delivery checks completed. I now have a registration number so can now arrange insurance, etc.
Looking forward to Wednesday! :)
Kind regards,
John.

I'm still jealous that I could not get a TDI in the USA.

I also have a 2005 Jetta TDI (old body style) and we LOVE it. It has become my son's car.

But, I'll have to see what kind of mileage I'll be able to nurse out of the I4.

Hopefully your car will come in soon! I love mine.

I agree, I keep mentioning it to the dealer, but they said buy a Jetta if I want diesel  No offence, but too plain for my liking. I would like an A4 if they offered the TDI in the states. But no luck there either.
