Hi all, I searched the forum to see if this problem had been covered but it appears it hasn't. I noticed a dent in the roof (panel above rear seats) which looks as though it has been punched as there are no scratches from say a brick, wood etc and it is in the bottom corner above the window. I took it to a friend who fixes panels for a living and he said he couldn't repair it as it is a specialist material. Where do I go from here? Are there specialists out there who could fix this? Could I replace the panel, or do VW sell the roof only as a complete package?

Thank you in advance for any replies,

David

It is a removable panel, so I suspect it can be ordered as a single part.

Im not sure how wasy it is to remove/replace either. I think it is just standard sheet metal, I don't think it is anything special.

Personally, unless it is particularly bad, I would just leave it, as playing with the roof can lead to alignment issues. You may have to get it repaired at a dealer or specialist garage.

I certainly don't recommend filling and painting, it can lead to uneven weight distribution, the roof isbn't made for that. I suggest replacing that panel.
