I have been looking at most of the pictures set in and it seems to me that there are two designs of front grills. This may just be the way the pics were taken but I was wondering if anyone here can clarify.

My top grill has chrome edges on the slats, the bottom grill does not. Is this common or has the design changed?

Most pics indicate that no chrome edges on top slats.

The chrome slats on the grille above the bumper were originally part of the 'Individual' model in Germany and for the first month of production NO UK Eoses had them.

VWUK thought they looked good however and would help to distinguish 'Sport' models from lower specs (along with cherry red rear-light clusters, also from the 'Individual').

From about wk 24/2006 production therefore all UK 'Sport' model Eoses came with the chrome slats.

Mine has them (one of the first Sports fitted with them) but any models you see in the UK without chrome slats are either non-Sport or date from pre-wk 24/2006.

Neh, Thanks for the information regarding the UK position.

It does still look like that the North American ones, though 2.0T models don't comply with the UK reasoning, they appear to be missing chrome slats. Perhaps just another country variation by VW?

Sorry - you'll need an anorak in the US to answer that one!

All the ones I have seen in the US are fitted with black slats. In my surfing I have seen replacements with chrome to purchase as well as a carbon fiber style...

My 2.0t does not have this feature despite being registered in Jan 2007. Checking the paperwork I discovered the car was PDI'd in July 06 and was therefore 6 months old before being registered. Looking at the VW website there seems to be a lot of 2006 early 2007 EOS for sale at virtually list price - & I wonder if these are to the original spec. It looks like another clue to an early model is a black fascia surround to the radio, later models are silver

Yes, forgot to mention that one! If you have silver grille slates you should also have alu on the fascia!
