We have had the car for two weeks now and after a blowy day with the top down we are looking @ purchasing a wind deflctor.
When picking up the car from the dealers I noticed the showroom car had a deflecter in the boot is this the norm now to have one supplied as spec.

Anyone got one for sale? been on eviel bay but keep missing them.

If you are in the UK I recommend ADAMESH (www.adamesh.co.uk) - ordered one day, delivered the next. Brilliant

Wind deflector

Do not know where you live but I will have one for sale shortly as soon as my new Golf arrives. It is a genuine VW one in A1 condition and comes with its original bag. Let me know if you are interested.

Mine came with a bag, but I have the US model and it was standard equipment. IMHO, it makes a top down ride a lot more pleasant, especially in cooler weather. Since I almost never carry anyone in the rear seat, my deflector stays in place most of the time. With the top down, it makes it look like a 2 seater (which the car basically is anyway.)

Hi,

mine came with it, in a natty black case. I tried it for the first time yesterday and it makes such a difference. Havng shorter hair, the wind effect never really bothered me too much, but I do wish I' fixed it sooner in the cooler weather. It was sooo simple to fix, but I had avoided doing so as I thought it was more complex!

I don't like the bug catcher though; it makes a real booming noise, and does interupt the airflow. Is this just me, am I doing something wrong?

So the wind deflector is standard equipment in the US? My dealer made it sound like he was throwing it in as a thank you, and I would rather have had him reduce the price of the car by a concomitant amount. But if the wind deflector is included anyway, I'll just smile and move on!

I will keep the wind deflector in place for the summer months, but a heads-up to anybody doing the same: watch for markings on the back of your front seats! Don't move the seats back too far or the wind deflector will leave an impression.

Jaydee, I have found the bug catcher is indispensable for reducing the booming noise! That thunderous sound was the biggest downside I found on my first test drive. I just wonder what would happen if I tried to close the top with the bug-catcher up. That might not be pretty!

Not a problem. If you leave the 'bug catcher' up the roof will close the catcher just as if you would. Kind of a feature, if you will.

Not sure it's meant to be a 'bug-catcher'. Think it's supposed to be a wind-deflector for use when the sunroof only is open.

Try not raising it when you drop the top and think you'll find no booming noise and no draught either!

I always use mine when the top is down never had a problem so far. I guess it also depends on your seating position the wind always makes my hair a mess without it up!

I always wear a cap when the roof's down so can't feel the wind anyway! Seems to be a bit noisier with it up though.
