One of the annoying things about me Eos is the horn sound when locking the car with the remote and the fact that there is no option to turn this feature off (at least as far as I know.)

So, today I drove my Eos to a spot not too far from home. When I got out of the car, I clicked the lock feature on the remote and was surprised that the horn didn't toot. So, I clicked a couple more times, still without a toot. I check the door and it was locked, so I was happy (more so that the horn didn't toot than that the car was locked.)

When I came back and drove off, I noticed that the rear trunk warning was displayed on the MTF. Sure enough, the trunk was unlocked and I guess when it is in the position, the aural toot is locked out. After thinking about it, it must be a warning to lock your trunk.

There is a way to disable the audible alert but I don't remember if it is in the MFD menu or has to be done using an external computer to change the parameters in the system. You won't get the beep when you push the lock button on the remote if any of the doors aren't closed or fully latched. I don't care for the beep either but it is the easist way to confirm all the doors are locked when you walk away from the car.

The setting is in the MFD. It's called ATA Confirm.

I turned mine off due to my car being parked outside a bedroom. I leave very early in the morning and felt guilty about the possibility of waking my neighbors!

This option is configurable with a full length MFD. I turned my off also. I had an '04 Passat that chirped when locking which I liked because it was a LOT quieter then the Eos and did not find it disruptive. It was more like a thump then a beep. I find the beep in the Eos too loud as well.
