My 2007 TDI Sport, with 115,000 miles, has a DSG gearbox. It has always been maintained correctly to VW recommendations. Recently I have sometimes noticed a very slight "clunk" when shifting from N into R, and less often from N into D. The gearbox functions perfectly - no other symptoms at all. Can anyone with some relevant knowledge/expertise of DSG boxes offer any advice about the cause/gravity of this symptom, and any suggestions on what, if anything, I can/should do about ?? Is it just normal wear from ageing or is about to fall apart !?

Its pretty normal for a DSG. At 115k, it must be due a transmission fluid change soon (they are every 40k), assuming they've been done on-time before. Worth doing this and looking at the quality of the old fluid coming out.

Thanks very much Paul - that's reassuring ! Yes, the fluid change service is up to date, so I missed the opportunity to check the old fluid - will remember next time !
