Hi All.

Just a general question for the UK forum and members concerning getting the DVD/SatNav installed in the EOS.

In a nutshell, I refused to pay up as an optional extra when I ordered the EOS in light of my friend who ordered an Audi getting his DVD/SatNav installed after he received it for £695 instead of the £2000 as an optional extra.

However, here is my problem. I have searched the sites and cannot see anyone advertising as a place where you can purchase and get it installed from them.

Is there anyone on the forum who can recomend a place in the UK where:-

1- They can supply the original VW DVD/SatNav
2- They can fit it for you, professionally
3- They can update the computer within the car so it doesnt come up with errors

I know I could probably go to the dealer but they will probably charge as much as having it installed originally.

Thanks guys and assistance would be appreciated.

Sean

It should not be necessary to re-programme the vehicle to accept the MFD2 - you enter the security code (supplied with it) to activate the unit.
A GPS antenna needs to be installed. The factory fit antenna is in the boot lid - not practical for retro-fit. Best compromise is to loacte under dash with good view of sky.
Can do the necessary installation, if required. Based in Slough (J6,M4).

A quick question on top of a question regarding the DVD/SatNav. Just been looking a little more at the actual SatNav system and I am sure the actual options on the official VW site have changed to now include the Touch Screen SatNav system.
Am I right in thinking that the MFD2 is now the older model of SatNav and the touchscreen is the newer model.
Thanks

I heard about someone who on this forum who bought an after market one... Completely different make, but had a surround and the mountings to match the VW, so looked a perfect fit in the EOS. Even uses the EOS plug for the power/speakers... So no rewiring!

Big Oouccch.

Got a reply back from the dealer today with a price for retro-fit.

£1955 plus VAT for the newer touch screen DVD/SatNav which includes parts and labour.

Oh and he said that a special offer exists where they will put the iPod Connection kit in as well. Great!!!. Why would I want to do that when it has a 30GB h/Drive and 2 x SD slots.

Guess that puts pay to that idea then. TomTom it is. LOL
