Sorry if this has been posted somewhere on this site but I've been having trouble with my new '09 Eos bought in January of this year. Not sure if its transmission or something else...but thought I'd post to see if anyone has been experiencing any of it:

Within the last two weeks my car seems to be having 'spasms'. This happens while driving at constant speeds (happened at 45mph, 60mph, and 65 mph) and usually at least after 20 minutes of driving...but it is very random as it has happened after 40 minutes etc. This problem has only happened 4 times and has only started to occur since two weeks ago.

What happens is that while driving, my EOS starts to decelerate even with my foot on the gas and the RPM's increase to above normal (I would say normal being 20-30 RPMs...and this goes above 30). This all lasts about 5-10 seconds each time. In addition...I have no control over my gas...I cannot increase my speed. My display (while the 'D' for drive is highlighted normally) all drives (Park, Neutral, Reverse, Drink and S) are highlighted. To make matters worse, the green symbol to put your foot on the brake pops up.

Again, this only happens for maybe 5-10 seconds. I have control over my brake and steering...but other than that, I can't do anything other than let it does 'its thing'.

Basically it feels like your driving and ran out of gas....car slows down...but the RPM's are flying up.

Anyone with help or suggestions? My car has been in the shop twice in the last week and nothing is coming up when they scan the thing....two test drives and they can't get it to repeat what I'm experiencing.

This is almost certainly a "gremlin"
in the electronics of the engine management system for the following reasons:
  1. The DSG gearbox is a "direct drive" system so any increase/decrease in engine speed will have a corresponding increase/decrease in vehicle speed unless the clutch packs are disengaged at the same time by the gremlin. If the clutch packs remain engaged, the rev counter works on electrical impulses so the fluctuations are the result of varying impulses through the electronic system rather than a real change in engine speed.
  2. The abnormal display is the result of abnormal electronic signals being received by the display module.
  3. The only mechanical explanation I can think of so far for your observation that the car "loses power" as the revs "increase" is the fuel/air ratio decreasing [lean mixture] for some reason. In this case, this will most likely be the result of a sensor fault and/or engine management system malfunction however intermittent fuel sytem blockage should not be overlooked either.
Interesting troubleshooting exercise for your dealer if the diagnostics are not showing any fault codes. Please keep us informed on what happens as we will all learn something from your experience.

I've had a similar problem with my 07 sport here in the US. It took a long time to fix, but I haven't had any problems since. I'm waiting for summer because the problem seems to be associated with high ambient temperatures. The problem was in the fuel delivery system and they replaced the low pressure fuel sensor, the fuel pump and probably a few other things in the fuel system. It was in the shop three times and the last time was for over a week. They had to contact an engineer in Germany to get advise. Each time it was in, they provided a rental for my use. Good luck. I still love my Eos and you would have to pry the steering wheel from my cold dead hands to get it away from me.
