Hi All,

YAY... We just picked up our EOS (on Friday, 09 EOS, Black, Red Nappa, Chicagos) after a VERY long wait!

Have a question for you all, that I hope you can help with....

The Dealer down here (Tasmania) installed (supposedly) Genuine VW Bluetooth car kit. I was wondering;

A) How do i know the "nokia" kit they installed is genuine VW Part  ,
B) Where would i find the actual hardware in the car, to see what brand/model it is
c) Does anyone know what the Genuine VW Bluetooth car kit is?

I am asking this, as i have an iPhone, and it just WONT connect to bluetooth in the EOS. I have seen other threads, with people connecting their iPhone to a "parrot" kit... Is this the genuine one! I know the Parrot kit works with iPhones as it is installed in our work cars (Toyotas)

Cheers and thanks in advance, cant wait for replies, have to get out on the road! hehehe

Daniel.

HI There we picked up ours last week and it does have btooth and the factory ipod connecter. I have synced the blackberry ok but have not tried the iphone. Apparently it can only remember three phones and which ever you sync first it will allways try that, then look for the next etc. I did try an SD card and the track names come up ok but on the iphone its just track one etc, I'm wondering if it does not see Genious lists etc. Would appreciate your feedback.

"How do i know the "nokia" kit they installed is genuine VW Part" Hi Dan&Jamie

I would think it very unusual that a genuine VW part/kit would be advertising someone else's logo/name, I am not aware of Nokia supplying "genuine" VW parts, perhpas recommended, but again I would not have thought so.

You mention the Parrot kit, again this is not genuine, but hey at the end of the day none genuine can save you a lot of buck as long as it works.

Go on line and look for VW Australia, send them an email, they will confirm for you

Here in the US VW has a factory kit called Volk-L that allows for Bluetooth. Check with your dealer and see if they have it available. Here in the states it costs $300USD plus installation. I believe it plays the phone through the stereo and enables the phone button on the steering wheel if you have that. Check here http://www.govolkl.com/what_is.htm

Hey Daniel.

The Australian dealer fit kit was originally a parrot kit. I believe that they can also fit a second kit now as well by a different manufacturer. Your dealer should be able to confirm the kit that was fitted to your car.

I have both the bluetooth kit and the iPod kit but mine is a 2007 car with the Parrot kit.

When you try to pair your iPhone it should say what device it is trying to connect to on your iPhone, mine says Parrot v5.20c.

I had my Parrot kit flashed to the latest firware 5.20c to use with my Nokia N85 as it would not connect with the original 2yr old firmware and my partners iPhone does connect with that firmware version and with the iPhone I can have a bluetooth connection to the car kit and use the iPod connection in the glovebox at the same time.
