hi,does anyone know how to how to allow the roof to be operated whilst the car is moving, there must be a cheat?lol

It would be a brave owner who would want to open/close their roof while the car is moving giving the high probability that one bump could cause permanent misalignment of the various mechanisms involved at best and permanent damage in the worst case scenario. The effect of wind loadings due to the moving vehicle on the mechanisms is another reason for avoiding roof opening "on the move".

Yes, you can do this with soft-top convertibles and possibly other hard-top models as well but they do not have the same roof features as the Eos especially the sun roof.

I agree that it is something that most would not want to do; however, it is a feature allowed with the SMART TOP module. You can set a maximum speed of 7, 14, or 21 mph.

On my old car with a SmartTop fitted, I found it useful to close the roof as I was creeping up to a parking space. It was also useful to open or close when crawling along in traffic. 27 seconds is a long time to be still when there are people behind you.

However, anything faster than this would be a no-no. The CC roof was like a huge sail when it operated and I'm sure any speed would have broke it.

Anyway. the SmartTop is your answer. If there was a was of fiddling it as standard, no one would have bought the add-on.

Technically, I can NOT recomment the roof is operated whilst moving, it is simply too heavy. If you go over a bump, then pins can misalign and then the roof is toast...

I don't do it, and nor should anyone else!

I'd agree. I've got my SmartTop set for 0 KmH.

While it is tempting to be rolling at slow speed and be able to close it, a slight bump and it is all over. I wouldn't risk it.

If it was safe to do it, pretty sure VW would have built it in (as Opel/Vauxhall did with the Astra CC, which can be operated up to 18 km/h I think).
