Well now - pre-Eos I hardly saw any on the road, could count on the fingers of one hand the number I met. Post Eos, I can't seem to get away without an 'Eos encounter' every day - sociable little things aren't they!

Each time I spot one [mainly A27 Brighton area and M4 J11 Reading area] I look hard, but get no response, not even a glance in my direction! Is it 'cos I Northern??? Of course, I am too 'Southernified' to wave or flash my lights!!

So, my question. What is the Club 'signal' that we all agree on when Eoses meet??

Answers on a postcard please!!

Now now.... sounds like you need to carry some of the new site flyers with you so that you can 'recruit' these wonderful EOS'ers into the club!

Actually I'm not so sure that EOS'ers is too good a word, given what it rhymes with...

Isnt it wierd how you can pass someone with an Eos without them even flinching but get all kinds of waves and thumbs up from people who dont own one.

I remember one girl in a nice looking red Mazda who looked like she was about to climb through her driver side window just to get my attention and say "Hot Car!".This all transpire while going about 45mph down the highway.

Yet I was at a stop light with another Eos owner . I was prepared to give her a wave and she didnt even look. Not that I could tell; she had the top up on a gorgeous day and she had some huuge Paris Hilton Glasses on. Not even as much as a Miss America wave.

Thinking about it though, she may have been just nervous I was going to hit on her or something. I think a male Eos owner might have been more comfortable with giving a wave or nod.

On my first EDA I saw 5 EOS. All with the top up. No sign of even looking in my direction.
In the 3 months before I got mine, I'd only seen 2 on the road. Now I have 2 others in my office carpark as well.

In my LR Discovery & Defender 90, I regularly get waves from fellow owners. The same with my BMW R1150RS almost every other rider waves you. And if police are ahead even give a slow down or thumbs down sign. We tend to look out for each other.:D

Think I have to get pro-active with the Xenons, perhaps that will get a response.

Happy EDA's,
Jim.

Funny thing but I've noticed it too. There are quite a few Eoses around here but despite my glances not one driver has looked anywhere other than dead ahead. It's as though they're driven by crash dummies...

When I first got an Alfa it was absolutely de rigeur for every Alfa driver to wave; it goes back to the Beetle in the 50s/60s - they always waved at eath other (probably goes further back than that too!).

Can't believe Eos owners are a more miserable lot than others (Eos Club Members excepted of course!)

Wow! So both sides of the Atlantic we have similar stories!! I think we should agree that amongst us, a flash [lights only please] and/or wave is what we do!!

Maybe this reticence is to do with getting used to people staring at the car, and trying to look 'cool' as a result??? Personally I grin and nod like a cheshire cat if someone is having a good nose!!

I say we resurrect the dub sign, index and little finger out in a 'W' fashion. Or maybe someone can suggest a more modern take on it, I don't wnat to end up looking 'Westside'!!!

I'm all up for making a prat of myself at the lights, always have been!

In the seventies I used to own an MG Midget and all owners used to flash(lights) and wave. Funny thing was when I progressed to an MGB this didn't happen. So perhaps some Eos owners are too posh like 'B' drivers and see flashing as common.

My wife and I recently completed a 3,500 mile tour of Europe mainly Spain and France and did not see a single other Eos !!!!!!!!!! (Your office in Aix must be well hidden)

I cannot recall anyone giving us the thumbs up (or any other gesture) when seeing the car in either mode.

Personally I do not think the car is that special in looks but is certainly a competent performer in 2.0T form.

I remember when the first golf GTIs came out (I think in the early seventies) the thing then was to have Go,Go,Go GTI stickers in the back window (Ah well,it takes all sorts)
and a flash of the headlights to acknowledge.

Yes it is. Behind 2 electric fences. At least the EOS is completely safe at work.

How bout middle three fingers resembling "W", like a peace sign but with the ring finger too.

I think we really are a special bunch with absolutely exquisite taste!

hand signals

Slightly concerned about the 3 middle fingers one for a "W". The younger people I work with have started doing this already whilst saying "read between the lines" i.e. showing the "bird".

If you want a "W" then cross your 2 middle fingers (possibly tricky for the less flexible amongst us) and spread the index and little ones.

Either of these would make a good "E" (for Eos (Goddess of Sun ya know)) using the right hand horizontally.

We also need a sticker, what happened to that idea????.

Hi Paj,

I believe Andrew now has stickers, and may be looking for someone to distribute to members in each region. I have volunteered to do Canada. Why don't you send him a message?

Given Up

I've given up trying to get some form of recognition from fellow Eos drivers.

Okay, it is true that I've only ever seen two on the road in my area. Both times I did everything I possibly could to try and get their attention. I tooted the horn, flashed lights... tried to wave while pacing them in the second lane... nothing. Neither of the drivers even looked over at me.

One, sped up and tried to "ditch" me by driving over a bridge. Of course, it wasn't hard to lose me once I realized that she was such a snob. Funny thing, about 10 minutes later, I saw her car at the local Costco. But, there was no way I was going to wait for her to come out.

LOL

Maybe it is just a Canada thing, or perhaps a provincial issue in British Columbia. She probably thought I was some sort of killer or stalker. LMAO. I have debadged the car, so she might not have noticed that it was an Eos.

Now that I think about it, I'm going to give them both the benefit of the doubt and say that neither of them noticed my car was an Eos too-- they must have just bought the cars and couldn't tell mine was the same. Not sure how to deal with this, as I like the look of the back-end of the car without the letters.

By the way, one was a silver and the other was the light blue.

She probably traded in a Bimmer and didn't want to be recognized with a VW at Costco! Next time you go ut for a drive and pass by Collingwood, I'l wave for sure! Cheers,

:) Hmmmm... That has the makings of an excellent EDA... And I have some vacation time saved up too...

Cross Canada drive during summer... I like the sound of that.
Go for it ... in fact, I'll give you free accommodation, and a game of golf at my club if you are so interested, on the way through!
