Hi,

I hopefully take possession of my EOS TDi next week. I can't wait. This will be my first non-japanese car I've ever owned. I am going to have to get used to not hitting the windscreen wiper every time I change lanes :).

I was curious if anyone has recently insured their EOS in Australia and has shopped around for quotes? Any recommendations?

Can't help you on Oz insurance mate but welcome to the site and good luck with your car. Unless your t-total I would suggest a nice long run out the the Yering Winery to purchase a bottle of their Merlot to celebrate.

There is insurance and there is insurance.
I got online quotes from RACQ (I'm in Brisbane) and AAMI. I'm sure that there are many others. The rates were quite reasonable.
Check to see what you get for money, the fine print. In case of write off.

The Eos that I picked up last month is my third 2.0TDi. With each new vehicle I am noticing improvements in the quality of the vehicle as a whole and in the engine itself. I feel with this Eos I have just taken ownership of that I have been fortunate in getting a good one. Fuel economy is exceptional, very close to the Golfs figures, no oil usage at this stage and everythign just feels great. I guess time will tell. I am in Adelaide and have always used the RAA here. I am a rating one driver and have only had one claim in ten years of being a member. I dont think this has provided me with any great discount towards my policy but they come with a good reputation around town and are highly spoken of by all repairers. Anyway I am paying around $420 a year for full comprehensive. The Eos TDi is a regarded as a conservative vehicle and I live in a very area. It all helps !!!!!!

Kieran,
I have just put my specs through the RAA site and I get a quote of $661, or $461 with a $1000 excess, so I have to assume you have the excess!
Incidentally, they have valued my EOS at $41,900 which is $6,000 less than the list price, or $11,000 less than I paid for it 5 months ago.
It is currently insured with Donnellys for $680 with no excesses.

Thanks Kieran and Lanmarc. The quotes I have been getting are all > $600 but I haven't checked the excess yet.

I thought it was just that I lived in a dodgey suburb! (which is probably still the case)

I just got a call from the dealer today and confirmed delivery for Saturday morning. I am now counting the sleeps.

I found in Melbourne that your premium will be dependant on your postcode. Some areas a deemed high risk due to vehicle thefts. Unforntunately as lovely as Rowville is, it attracts a high premium. I found Allianz to be the cheapest for me. Cheaper than all of the specialised "On Line" insurance companies like budgetdirect etc etc.. Plus I bingled my wife's Barina a few years ago and making a claim was totally fuss free! And you may very well live a dodgey suburb. LOL

Well, I think I paid about AU$52,500.
The list price is $47,990.
Pearl effect paint is $690.
The rest is dealer delivery and registration, and probably some form of tax.

I live in what is considered a "ok" suburb to live in, and have a short but flawless driving and insurance record. But alas being 21 has its drawbacks, i am considered to be an insurance company's greatest fear it seems.... the cheapest insurance I have found is a little over $2000 with a $750 excess... :(
