Hi all,

Thought I should let you all know that my beautiful (but still leaky) Eos went back to the dealer on 7 December. I formally rejected it after they could not fix a leak on driver's side - I've posted about it previously.

The dealer accepted the rejection after a couple of weeks deliberating and taking legal advice and then e-mailed me to say they had been advised that I had a good case. I handed the car back in exchange for a full refund of the price I paid in Jan 07.

I'm sorry to be leaving the Eos club but I couldn't risk ordering another (after thinking long and hard and getting a very good quote from a different dealer) in case the problem has not been addressed. I've gone for a Merc SLK350 (not new) - only 2 seats but looks as good as the Eos and has all the options I'd want. Picking it up next weekend.

I hope you all continue to enjoy your Eos.

Peter, saw your message, I'm onto my third EOS, have rejected two due to water leaks, they assured me this third an 08 model had been modified. Picked it up yesterday in heavy rain and whilst at the dealer noticed leaks in exactly the same place. Dealer has been wonderful but I fear that i may have to go down your route though we love the car.Does this mean that we are accepting that VW are not able to make an EOS that doesnt leak?

so sorry to hear of your experience with Eos number 3. Did you take the car away and pay for it? I assume you will be rejecting the car and demanding a full refund. If your dealer has been "wonderful" then hopefully there will be no problem.

I believe that VW will not admit it but clearly they cannot build Eos in sucha way that they are all leak free. Who knows - maybe they will sort it in a year or two !! Don't get me wrong - we loved thecar too - engine and DSGbox both fantastic but we could not live with a leaky car, particularly since if the problem persists the Eos value will dive.

Please let me know what you decide. We went for an SLK despite having 3 kids - they'll justhave to stick to rides in the 7 seater or one at a time with mum or dad in the Merc !!

Cheers

Took delivery of my EOS 25th March 2008., had load of rain, and so far I have had not one drop of water in the car. I am so thrilled with car, roof up or down, Brilliant.

Island Grey/Red Napper leather interior and all the extras possible.

As I have said before, it is normally due to the seals not being lubricated properly by the dealers prior to delivery and also during a service. There has been a tachnical bulletin in the UK to cover this... Whilst I have a little rattle sometimes, I have no leaks and I look after my own seals...

SiJ2000,
How often do you treat the seals? Is the treatment interval ambient temperature dependant?
