Highway Safety Ratings

The US Highway Safety just released their detailed ratings of ten convertibles yesterday .... the top award winners were Volvo and Saab; however, EOS scored very well and received a "Good" mark for both frontal and side impact. Rating appears to be "Marginal" for rear impact due to adequacy of head rests in a whip-lash situation, a common issue with many VW products.

Yup ... sorry. Saab and Volvo were only cars that passed all four tests .... front impact, side impact, rear impact, and rollover protection. Three more, including EOS, passed on three tests but missed on rear impact. The remaining five failed on at least two tests of four. There should be lots of press coverage today. I saw it on a Canadian morning show.

Current resale price

I have just been to a couple of car dealers finding values for trading in my Eos in Oct/Nov 07. Their Glasses guide on the TDi Sport with 9000 Miles is 21500 pounds. This is before extras (the all important one being leather). Not a bad return, it will be better than last years Golf GTi.

Thanks for the link Hugh. It does give an unbiased opinion on the resale values and is to be welcomed. I think a reason why the Eos does well is the fact that it is still scarce and its at a lower price point than the othe marques in the list (excepting the Mini).

Also as we all know its a joy to look at and drive, many happy EDAs ahead I hope.
