When I go to open the truck of my 2009 Eos (either with the inside control or remote key fob) the truck will unlock but re-lock itself within 5 seconds. This does not gives me sufficient time to exit the vehicle and get to the truck to open it.
This happens both when the engine is running or it is off.

My only altertnative is to stand in front of the truck, use the fob and IMMEDIATELY open it before it re-locks itself.

Anyone out there know why this is happening and how to remedy this situation?

There is a lot already posted on trunk locking have you tried searching? When the trunk lid first unlocks it must lift up straight away. If it doesn't it can re-lock. Check the adjustable bump stop settings and gas struts. Otherwise, look for a control or wiring problem.

It's not normal for the bump stops to need adjusting. When the lid is closed the gas struts and rubber trunk seal should still add a small amount of upward pressure to allow the lid to rise above the lock slot. You should feel there is some upwards pressure with your hands as you lift the V.W emblem trunk release. If there is no or reduced pressure from the gas struts to apply the upwards pressure you may be chasing the wrong problem by adjusting bump stops. Aftermarket gas struts are really cheap, go buy some new struts. I replaced mine with a pair having slightly more lift as the OEs were 14 years old.

I can only add that if a dealer struggled adjusting bump stops, the problem wasn't their adjustment and will only come back as one or both struts continue to lose their lift and the rubber trunk seal softens with age. Gas struts are easily removed one at a time and can be tested on bathroom scales.
