i have a 56' plate eos, the engine management light keeps coming on after couple of hundred miles. took it to v.w they replaced pressure sensor at the top.
was ok for 500 miles then came back on. just before EML came on car pulled back and lost all power, then had a spitting fit then was ok.

has any one had anything like this before? any tips?

im thinking dirty fuel has blocked / partially blocked the exhaust causing the surge and lack of power and pressure sensor code coming on. when replaced the f/filter week ago was black.

any help would be a life saver!!

For our UK members - "56' plate" and related numbers are unique to the UK and are incomprehensible to almost all of our other members.

If you would appreciate drawing on the resources of our world-wide membership to solve your problem, please identify your car in a way that is immediately understand by everyone. I suggest using the model year [MYxx] applicable to the car as used by most of our members.

Scott, sounds more likely to be a leak in the exhaust system maybe?

As for the plate/year of the car in the UK: The short answer is that 56 plate = registered between September 2006 and March 2007.

The tedious long answer begins...stop here if you're easily bored!

Not that I expect the international members to learn this (but it might be of passing interest), the current UK registration plate numbering system started in 2001.

If the first digit is a "0", it was registered in the first decade of this century between March and September. If the first digit is a "5", it was registered in the first decade of this century between September and March.

That number goes up by one for each decade, so in 2010 we hit "1" and "6" plates respectively.

The second digit refers to the final digit of the year of registration (eg. in the case of 2005 that would be "5").

So in a 56 plate, the "5" means "registered during the first decade between September and March" and the "6" means "in 2006". Now we're in 2011, in March we'll see the 11 plates and in September the 61 plates.

Fascinating stuff eh? ;)

Trust the British public service to make something simple complicated....:D:D:D.
