Hi everyone - new member and this is my first posting. Been awaiting the arrival of my Eos Sport Tdi in silver with red leather. Viewed today and will collect on Saturday morning - can't wait!
Just one question for Eos TDi owners - I was told that the TDi DPF model would have exposed (i.e. showing) twin exhausts. Slightly disappointingly my does not. Any members out there with a TDi that does? This was not an option/accessory when ording.

Twin Exhausts

Heres the 4Car review of the Eos TDi DPF model at the link below, and it appears to have exposed exhausts. I've seen other models without it but think the particular one you have has them. especially if they said it did

I think you'll find that's a TFSI not a TDI. The I on the badge is red. All the TDI's I've seen in England & here in France have the twin exhausts behind the bumper. They are there but hidden.
I think it's something to do with german regs & the EU. Audis seem to do the same. I think the exhaust is supposed to be hidden or point downwards on diesels.
Peugeot & other French cars don't bother. My wifes 207 HDI has a nice big visible exhaust as does my daughters Fiesta TDCI.
Must say I was dissapointed looks much better with twin pipes visible.

Don't believe everything you see in a photo!

Hmm, thats strange as the link was to the gallery for the TDi DPF. Heres the main review link http://www.channel4.com/4car/road-tests/full-specification.jsp?version_id=6114
They may have just posted pictures of a TFSi but it should be a TDi as that what the review is on.
Those pictures are all VW publicity shots. So I guess when they write the reviews they just use pretty pictures & expect most people won't notice. Which is probably true.
Same as when you look at the VW brochures and compare RHD & LHD cars. Lots of times the images are doctored to move components. So they only take one set of photos. They certainly do this with wheel types etc for local markets.
I've got both French & English brochures. The photos are identical inc backgrounds, but the car is RHD or LHD with different wheels.

Clever stuff digital images. The camera DOES lie.

Not sure the regulations are still the same in Germany (can countries have their own regulations still?) as most of the latest BMW and Audi diesels have nice, visible twin chrome exhausts. Germany probably they got their knuckles rapped for having their own regulations and had to fall in line with the rest of the EU. VW are always one step behind everyone else of course...

Surely it makes sense to point the exhaust towards the road rather than straight back into the fresh air intake of other Eos drivers and pedestrians.

No matter how low the CO2 emissions its the carbon microparticulates that are the problem here. Put the diesel under load with foot down and watch the smoke belch out the back. Since these particles are 'sticky' they will stick to the road rather than become airborne.

In saying this most of the buses here just belch the muck straight out at anyone or anything that is behind them.

Many thanks to all who replied to the 'twin exahust pipes' thread.

Heard back from VW UK today - apparently all Eos TDis do not have exposed pipes. This is the reserve of the petrol models i.e 2.0s and 3.2. The various review pictures I have seen for the TDi which show the pipes are therefore publicity pictures and not of the actual car being tested - you were quite right Jim in your reasoning. Still nice to know that my new car is not 'abnormal' - collect from the dealer on Saturday and the weather looks stunning for the weekend!

Thanks again.

Wish I was getting mine Saturday. Dealer here keeps telling me a few more days. But they originally told me end of May. So at least it's not overdue yet!.
From what everyone else says here, you'll be "over the moon" on Saturday. Bet you'll have the top down whatever the weather is like.

Jim.

exhaust pipes

just saw pierre's pictures of his TDI "black magic eos" posted today. there are no pipes exposed like mine on my eos which uses regular gas. actually looks pretty clean with no pipes. i like it both ways. but as yet here in the USA they do not have diesal yet. maybe there will be a way you can modify yours. but however you get em..... you'll love the ride. enjoy!!!!

Genisis,
just to confirm, I received my EOS Sturday 5th May 2.0Lt TDi, and can clarify that it has twin exhausts, however they are tucked under the bumper and out of view. I must say the car looks totally different to the 2.0Lt FSI with twin exhaust!!! no messy cut out, looks really nice from behind.
