I learnt something new today. I have been paying my dealer quite a few visits recently regarding the engine management light staying on, disappearing, coming back on etc..
They have finally got to the bottom of it which was apparently a faulty fuel sensor. They then subsequently discovered that this issue is part of a very recent recall in the UK.
However I have not had a letter from Volkswagen as yet.

I was wondering whether anybody else has had the same problem or receive a letter at all.

Anyway, be warned.

I certainly have not had a letter. But thanks for the heads up on the issue.

Cheers

Recall

Aloha Tintin,
No recall in the US yet. I think the car is going to need more shake down time before they issue any recalls. My research on VW is that reliabilty with electrics and bits and pieces falling off is not good.
I worry about it, but hope for the best.
I think that new cars are so full of electronics, and cheap ways to make things, that they have built-in obsolecense.
Good luck,
Robert

thats weird as no letter yet but the other day i had 70 miles in my tank i went to the petrol station put in £20 it went up to 210 miles.

the next day my car had 0 miles in the tank so i went to a different petrol station again put in £20 and got 325 miles in my tank

its stayed like it so i wasnt sure if it was my car or was it the petrol station.

Was at my dealer on Monday morning for usual service and the receptionist said there was a recall which they would fix now about the computer. So now I am content my blue beauty is still in awesome condition.
I am in Vancouver, Canada.
Great top down weather this summer so far...everyday hooray.
Have had her since Feb. 2007 and still looks like new and runs perfect.;)

I doubt its a "recall"... Its probably just a dealer bulletin to tell the dealer to check and fix when the cars come in for service.

Proper recalls are normally just for safety issues which could affect the safety of the car (like changing the bolts on the seats as the seats might fly off in a crash!!)...

My Tdi was built in May 08. It conked out on me the day after I picked it up (see thread in Australian subforum), and as well as the problem described there, the dealer also says he has to replace the fuel sensor.

Strangly, my Eos is in the shop for the second time in 10 days. Symptom: engine cuts out on long trips and the temperture is 95 to 103. First dealer said there is a TSB (technical service bullitin) concerning the low pressure sensor that controls the fuel when it is injected into the cylinder. The dealer replaced the sensor. Driving home (250 mile trip through Utah and Colorado) the problem re-occured. We were able to continue the last 50 miles with the engine "stumbling", but we could drive 75-80 MPH, "check engine" light on. Next day the car ran normal around town and CEL was off. I made another appointment at a dealer that is only 90 miles away and deliverd the car without problem this Fiday. I left my Eos at the dealer and road the train home. Dealer has the TSB and is going to see if there is a newer sensor to replace the one the first dealer used. Also says there is at least one computer update that they will run which may also help correct the problem. If the problem can be fixed Monday, I will ride the train back and pick up my car, if not, probably Wednesday. I will keep you all up to date. I have had a simular problem with VWs-77 Rabbit, 84,86,90 Vanagon, different reasons.

I picked up my Eos Friday, this is the service performed. Replaced low pressure sensor in engine bay, loaded new program for fuel management system and replace fuel pump in gas tank. It seems to be running fine, but have not had it on the road for a long run with tempurtures near or higher than 100 F. Headed for a 500 mile round trip this weekend, we will see what happens.
