Afternoon all,

I'm just trying to fit a hands free mic to link up to my bluetooth unit.

I've got the centre light console out and removed the passenger sun visor.

However I'm stuck getting the trim off now to route the cable behind where the sun visor sat and down the passenger side A pillar.

Can anyone give me some tips or advice on either leveraging it out enough to slip the cable inside, or removing and re-fitting once the cable is in place?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Hi Greg,
I don't know if this is of any help but I have just had a Pioneer AVIC F9000 fitted to my 09 Eos to replace the standard A310 unit. This involved fitting a microphone for my Bluetooth phone. I don't know what route was taken for the wiring but it exits in the main instrument binnacle underneath the rev counter. I'll try & take a photo tomorrow & post it here. In that position it seems to work pretty well.
Kind regards,
John.

cheers John,

I looked at that location as I had a mike fitted there in an MGF I owned, however I managed to route it up the side of the a pillar under the rubber, pulled off the corner piece at the top with the roof down and got it back to the centre light eventually!

Cheers,

Greg

To route mic cable to interior light cluster:
Unclip interior light cover then remove interior light ( 2 clips press in).
Remove covers from sun visor retainers and then unscrew (passenger and driver side).
Remove sun visors (both sides).
Pull whole interior light trim down - leave dangling in position.
Remove top corner molding on passenger side and then pull A-Pillar trim out wards (3 clips). Then pull up to remove.
There is a wiring harness on the A-Pillar trim.
Use insulating tape to hold the mic cable in position - do not cable tie as these will rattle against the plastic trim. Leaving cable loose will also cause rattles (and drive you mad).

When we fit any handsfree kit to an Eos we always route cables very carefully as the trim can rattle. Takes a lot more effort, but we don't get called back..

Mine is also under the REV counter, mounted on the ledge there infront of the clear plastic screen covering the dials...

I would say that this is the best place as it means that it won't be as affected by wind noise when the roof is open...

Yes after careful consideration I have placed both the mic and the LCD in front of steering wheel area
Both these are so easy to route wires to etc -done it in minutes.
The mic is to LHS
The screen has l shaped mount removed and simply secured to perspex over the instrumnet dials (just above the 0000 button )using double sided tape -

totally unobtrusive to dial unless you are doing over 140mph !!
SInce most is voice activated stuff -very little need to hit buttons
ALos in straigh line of sight for caller display etc
Not obvious to passers by.
no reflections-easy to view.
reception is 1st class (havent tried with roof down due to rain but suspect better location to to further distance from wind noise)

Happy with this ! cheers
