That is a really nice and neat joj and you can be proud of youre work.

I doesnt appear to be the newer touch screen version, any reason you went for the previous model rather than the newer one.

It still looks like a factory fit though!!!! and thats good.

Hi,

Agree, looks good. I've got the similar single disc stereo to your old one at the moment (with mp3 capability) and have the armrest ipod adapter. Am i right that this ipod adapter wouldn't work with the new head unit? Also, how have you connected an antenna for the nav unit?

Also noticed the nice fitting of the Parrot unit. I went for the 3100 and at first they fitted it near the drivers a-pillar where i usually put my stand alone sat nav, but the attached it via sticky pad and it fell off! Now they re-mounted it in the corner of the air vent on that side, but i would much have preferred the location yours is mounted.

Cheers,

Mark

Where did you put the GPS ariel ? Changing the unit itself doesn't look too bad but I can't see an easy way to hide it under the dash.

When you take the radio out, it is in a plastic surround in the dash, if you feel on top of it, there is ample space for the aerial. It works fine there, mine is 100% accurate :)

I did have to use a few sticky pads though and may have to find a way of reinforcing it better in the future, but will wait to see if it comes unstuck first, it probably wont!

When I tested the unit, I just chucked it in the hole where the radio goes and it fell down the back... Navigation still worked OK there!!! So it doesn't seem to be too fussy!

I didn't go for the touch screen version as it seemed a bit expensive for what I needed... I hardly ever use the car, so just got it to look cool and to have easy accessible map. It does that fine!

Lovely job, totally "factory". How does the surround come off? I've been tempted by some other units but couldn't work it out! Can you do a noddy's guide please.

Hi,

I am after one of those Parrot 3200LS bluetooth kits.

How is it please. Also Halfords are trying to sell me a Brodit mount for the unit. What mount did you use please, it looks very neat. Is it the standard one or a third party.

Many thanks

(I too fitted an MFD 2 and also fitted a CD changer in the glovebox afterwards as the slot won't play CDs). Mine isn't the Chrome one though. That looks great with the chrome surround.

Someone gave me the mount, so not sure where that came from...
I really do recommend the 3200LS... It's a great system, im very pleased with it...

I only listen to Radio, so dodn't bother with the CD Changer!

I thought I didn't need a CD player until one day the radio stations were all playing crap (Late at night).
I have just had my Parrot 3200 installed. Getting a Brodit mount for it tomorrow. Just clips to the car. Very smart. Seems great so far as well.

I can also highly recommend the Parrott 3200LS, great reception, blue screen compliments the EOS dash nicely.

I too had Halfords fit mine, I kept it simple with the supplied velcro fitting which does the job fine.

All in all a good bit of kit

Does the Parrot allow you to use the phone button on the steering wheel or are additional adaptors needed?

I don't think the diversity antenna is on by default for the radio... In the MFD2, the second antenna seems to be set to TMC... I don't think the TMC even works in the UK, so if you set it to Radio, it should be better....

I think an extra adapter is required for the steering wheel buttons.. I don't have those, so not issue for me!

Mr busdriver, I can take the NAV DVD out of my MFD and play CDs in the slot. Obviously I can't use the nav at the same time... I may fit an iPOD adapter at some point... or some kind of AUX...

Amazing, you must have a later version than me. I tried it and it said something to the effect that the CD was incompatible.
Next time I'm in the car I'll try again but didn't work last time. Maybe the chrome version is more up to date.

I'm looking at buying an Aux in for my RCD500 but wondered how easy it was to remove the plastic surround (removed in pic 2).

Do you need some special tool or just something plastic to wedge it out?

Very easy... Just pick it out carefully, but don't twist... list off straight...

Software version 28 and up can play CDs, but you have to push the CD button on the front, then insert the CD...

It's easy to do, just go into sys settings and hold down the Factory Set button for about 10 seconds. This takes you to a new screen. On that screen, select System Info and scroll to the screen with the EEPR and HW-HU and Platform numbers... Post here what they are and I will let you know whether it is up to date. Also the VW-No on the other screen will be useful. the MCM/SH/RP numbers should also be dated close to the EEPR version...
