Hi gang!

I recently purchased a german plate off ebay to put on the front of my (US) car. . The plate came with a standard holder but it obviously doesn't match the contour of the bumper.. I was wondering how you guys overseas attach yours, do you leave it so that the sides aren't flush to the bumper or do you bend the plate and frame so that it hugs the the bumper?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
Mine has a black plastic frame thats contoured to the bumper & then gives a flat face for the plate. I guess it's a VW part.

Hi, My Eos is waiting in the dealers compound it has not been issued with a UK registration number yet, but like Jims, My Eos has a black plastic contoured mount already attached for the number plate to be fixed onto.

Does anyone know if this is available for purchase from anywhere?

monkeymojo,
that licence plate mount looks nothing like the one VW put on my Eos, mine is solid and contoured.

Hi Brian,
The frame you have there is the standard frame used for German plates. German plates are not rivetted in place but are mounted in this frame, it has some clever hinges that allows the plate to be easily removed. When you move house from one town to another you need to get new plates (like moving between states). Your plates are for Wuppertal I think. It's why the town decal (the lower one) has the centre removed so they are no longer valid.
I kept my German plates when I left Munich.
For Germany this frame would fit onto the standard mount we have in Europe. In France by law the plates have to be rivetted to the car.

Thanks for all the info Jim! I'm going nuts over deciding how to mount it to the car. I dread putting holes in my bumper but figure thats the only way.. Now my concern is whether I mount it with the frame that I have or if I try to find a contoured frame like you have.. I looked some last night but didn't run across any..
