Hey there!

I've been reading this forum for some time now, and thought i should take the time to say hi. I'm getting a 2.0 TDI EOS in the next 2 weeks! Finally! :)

I'm a mechanical engineer, and was at the plant in Portugal where the EOS is made (still have some acquaintances there) for some months doing a project for my graduation from college. I got to know the entire factory, the EOS production line, the Sharan production line and the Sirroco Prototypes and final production models. I can tell you that the EOS was not an easy "child"... It was/is a difficult car to manufacture, the hard top is troublesome, and there where some problems with tolerances earlier on. All this aside, the car is put together with care and attention. No one is forcing anything on, everyone takes their time to assemble the parts, the production line doesn't feel "rushed". Also, the cars are built on a beautiful "rubber rolling carpet"! It's a great car, and one the people in Portugal are very proud to build!

I'd like to thank this forum for all the great info I found here, and if I can help you guys in any way I'll be glad to!

Best regards, Tiago

Welcome Tiago, very interesting thread you posted and I'm sure we all appreciate knowing all you had to say about the factory and the EOS production line. Good recommendation that you are actually buying one yourself after working in the actual factory.
Happy safe driving when your EOS arrives.

Hi,

Yes, I know for a fact the EOS is a great car! :) My aunt works for VW and has had Eos's since early 2006! She just traded hers from a Sirocco. The only problem she had with the 2 or 3 EOS she had was a dead batery once!!! No leaks, absolutely no mechanical problems! I'm going to "Autoeuropa", the name of the plant, next week to see the car and maybe talk to some engineer there. I'm very curious too see if they know about Krytox, and to get some advice from the people who manufacture the car.

Tiago
