Welcome to the club. I'm sure you will get a lot of benefit by searching the past posts and contributing your own input. As you will find out driving the Eos is like an adventure, can't put my finger on why though, its only a car. Just enjoy!
Happy EDAs
neh321,"It's only a car"?
"A Toyota Avensis is "only a car". An Eos isn't only designed to go from A to B but to have FUN with!" Lots of it!
neh321,
How right you are! My previous car was an Avensis which I had for 4 years (second hand when I bought it with 12,000 m on the clock). Boring as hell but soooooo reliable. I have now had my Eos for exactly 6 weeks (TDI Sport, DSG, etc.) & there are now 2000 miles on the clock which include 2 round trips to London from Devon.
So far, so good - no leaks & everything works. The main thing is that I now enjoy driving again. Whereas the Avensis was a means for getting from A to B the Eos now gives me a reason for going from A to B. I thoroughly enjoy driving her (I used to be in the Merchant Navy so cars as well as ships are female).
Although cornsilk beige carpet mats look good new, with the current weather we're having down here in the West Country, they soon get dirty so I have changed them for black rubber ones which my local dealer obtained for me. These anchor to the existing studs on the floor. Come the summer then I may well return to carpet mats.
The car seems to be averaging about 41 miles to the gallon over the 2000 miles that I have done with which I am very pleased although I don't know if that is good or just average.
With all the mud on the roads down here from tractors frequent washing is required (Reflex Silver). I have only once put her through a mechanical carwash but she came through without a dribble inside.
We have torrential rain down here tonight & have just returned from a trip to Exeter through it & still no leaks (fingers are very firmly crossed). Curiously, I parked in a multi storey carpark in Exeter & when I returned there was a black 56 registered manual FSI Eos, grey leather interior, parked next to me.
I still have to figure out some of the nuances of the Pioneer F900 BT Satnav, especially the speed camera warning system which sometimes give an audible warning on approach but not always, although a visual representation always appears on screen.
Will give regular updates every few weeks on my experience with an Eos. I hope Steph & Doolalllygirl's problems are being taken care of by their dealers.
Hi JohnHi Doolallygirl,
That's a fair old drive from Kent to Torquay. Presumably you did it the direct way & not M25, M3, A303 etc. There's not a lot of motorway going direct - M27 & then some bits of dual carriageway.
I collected my Eos from a dealer in Brighton on December 10th. It was a lovely drive back, especially through Dorset. I don't know when your Aunt's funeral was but I could well have been in Torquay doing some Christmas shopping.
How are you getting on with your leaks? I hope you're getting some satisfaction from your dealer at last.
If ever you're over this way again - like to collect your bequests from your Great Aunt's will(!) - let me know & maybe we can meet up & have our own "East meets West".
Kind regards,
John.
