Love:

Build quality, interior design and layout, xenons that move when you steer, sideways headlights that come on when you indecate, indecator flashes 3 times when you just flick the stalk, headlights come on when plip open/stay on when lock for 30 seconds, DSG gearbox is sweet as a nut although paddles on wheel are totally pointless, Dynaudio speakers kick some serious arse!!, how easy it was to install SmartTop mudule (Shhhhhh, dont tell anyone!)

Dislikes:
Beige leather was grubby after 1 day of driving! Thought it would have been a bit more hardwearing than that for the money, MPG is shite, one touch windows dont go all the way down leaving about 5mm showing - have to press a second time for them to completely dissappear, seatbelts snap back so hard i'm surprised they dont dent the door card, seat mechanism fiddly and never return to where they were, mix button on stereo always turns back off when ignition turned off, ipod connection should be able to display song info, lack of window/roof operation from remote, doors dont stay open that well unless parked on completley flat surface, cant program mirrors to fold in when plip locked.

I don't care about the dislikes at all.... I agree with you about them, but just don't care as the car is so damn cool!!!!

I don't have the Dynaudio though.... Just normal!

I have the T-FSI DSG like you, Deep Black Pearl, black leather and 18" Chicagos.....

We too have the 2.0 Turbo. Let's compare fuel consumption:

Average 23 - 28mpg
Motorway - 34 - 37mpg

I am looking foward to be able to do my own review of the EOS.

This will be the 4th car Ive owned with the 2.0TFSI engine and due to its weight the slowest. In theory it will also be the worst handling:eek:

Got a feeling Bluefin and some lowering springs will be needed at some point.

Yes - Bluefin!! I am hoping to buy one very soon.
They are giving a 15% discount to members of the Golf forum. You should be able to blag one.

Spoke to Jamie today & he confirmed that there's been some interest in the product, but not everyone's purchased it yet. To keep it fair, he's extending the 15% discount until the end of September. So to confirm,

15% discount to uk-mkivs members until 30th September 2007

If you want one, buy it before then. Now you have no excuse! Contact details at this link:

If you don't have electric seats the manual seats require a two step process to return them from the tilted forward position.

First without lifting the seat release handle on the top of the backrest move the seat rearward which will return the seat base to the position it was in before you tilted the seat forward. Then pull the seat release handle on the top of the seat back up and the backrest will return to the position it was in before you moved it forward.

If you lift the release handle on the seat back up before you have moved the seat base back-wards the seat will not return to it's previous position.

My biggest dislike is why does VW cut the power to the sunroof and electric windows when the ignition is turned off rather than leave it on for 1 minute to allow you to close them after you have switched the engine off. Other manufacturers have woken up to this :(

Yeah this is actually the same process as my outgoing Astra G convertible, its a crap system. Befor that I had a Renault 19 convertible where the back rest never moved but the whole seat including the base pivoted up and forward which made rear access a dream. VW used to doe this in the golf also. Its the best system because the sliding part of the seat adjustment never acutally moves.

Yeah it seams a bit odd to cut the power to windows and sunroof. My Renault Vel Satis has this feature and its very usefull to leave the power on for a bit. Then again you can just plip it twice and the windows go up anyway. Something else VW left out. This is why I had to have the smart top module and its worth every euro i paid for it.

You could close the open windows using the key in the lock if you forget to close. Lock and hold to do the same or unlock to get the windows open.

My Cabrio has the feature -- the windows can be opened and closed after the car is off but before any doors have been opened.

It will take a while to get used to not having that capability.

That's quite some dislike list!

Afraid i dont have those dislikes or problems, my windows go down flat when required, and my doors stay open on some rather steep slopes, and my windows can be put up after i've turned the engine off.

Its easy enough to twidle the button to get the mirrors to go in, and my seat belt doesn't go back up too quick!

mpg now averages at 30-32mpg driving around town/city, motorway is around 34-38, and country road driving is between 38-41. Only 3k on the clock and will get better with more miles

I sometimes notice that the windows aren't fully down - sometimes I don't notice (or maybe they choose when to go fully down and when not to!) In any case it bothers me not one bit!

anna your MPG figures are superb - what engine do you have? My car is currently averaging 27MPG for all journeys, although less than 15% has been motorway driving!

I have big heavy feet though, if thats an excuse...

Head down, shyly twisting big toe in sand..9484 miles, V6. I had been averaging 30mpg but now I seem to be stuck at 27.5, as I love the grrrr. I've a wee size 7 foot, ddlweb, but I live on a magic twisty coastal road, and the years drop off me ( in my head only I'm afraid ) when I have a good rake.

Have the 2.0 FSI, and use the cheapest unleaded fuel I can find - after reading another post about the quality of the fuel used, afraid I tend to favour Asda and Morrisons fuel! Did a little less today, 28mpg driving into birmingham, but traffic was rubbish!
I thought my mpg wasnt great, but I'm pleased now! You wouldn't believe how pleased I was the first time I saw it go over 40mpg!

Had my Eos a week now, I absolutely love it, but its already costing me an arm and leg in petrol. I am still finding my way around all the buttons dials knobs etc and still at the stage where I find some new feature everyday.

Windows not opening 100%: NORMAL ON 2008 EOS

Hi
Trying to close the debate on this topic: I now own an 08 EOS for almost a month. The fact that windows do not open entirely is a feature, not a bug ; the car was designed to do this, so as to improve the life and efficiency of the joints, vs. 06 and 07 models.
