I'm about to become the owner of an EOS early in the New Year and I wondered if other female drivers wear headgear of some sort when driving with the top down. This isn't so my hair won't get mussed up, I'm more concerned about sun damage here in Australia. Do peaked caps stay on or do you wear scarves? Perhaps you don't worry about the sun's rays but I'm a pom with fair skin!

Carolyn, I too am a pom with fair skin and always wear a baseball cap and MauiJim sunglasses (you can get them in Brisvegas, and they are the best) and you don't have to worry about a cap/scarf coming off at all, with the bug catcher up and the wind deflector in place you will only get a bit of a breeze if you have the windows down. But don't forget to cover your neck!!! Hope this Christmas the weather is better for you than it was last Christmas! we managed to fly down to Melbourne as the bad weather hit Brisbane. Good luck with your car pick up, safe, happy driving.

I tend to wear a baseball cap when driving, but only in bright conditions.

When I drive I dont like any visual distraction, the sun peeping in over the top of the sunnies is so annoying and defects the object of the shades.

Im a Roberto Cavali aviator wearer, very seventies.

I have never lost a cap.

Regards

Rob

Thanks to both SKIDOO and Barchetta for the info. A baseball cap it is. I wonder if VW will give me one when I pick up the car in January!! Wouldn't that be nice......

Our dealer gave us 2 caps plus vests for the not so warm Melbourne days
So ask for that as a minimum

Always wear a baseball cap in summer and a warm hat in winter. Have no hair so I need the protection!

Picked up our Opal Silver EOS on Friday and the salesman gave us 2 baseball caps, not with VW on them but the dealership logo! Ah well, better than nothing. By the way the car is brilliant.....

I have never come close to losing a cap, which is only put on if I'm roofless for more than 20mins (I'm another fair skinned pom).

I also carry sunscreen in the glove box for those unexpected long drives (funny how often I get caught taking a long drive)

I have a convertible hair style, currently in the lowered position (OK, I'm bald). I always wear a cap when its sunny to protect my eyes and head and I've not lost it yet.

My wife has long hair and we keep a supply of hair bobbles (things to tie up your hair) in the glove box. However, with the roof down, windows up and wind deflector raised there is hardly any wind distubance in the cabin.

Blagging a free cap from VW sounds like a must tho.

I also have a lack of hair situation, so a wooly hat in the winter and cap in the summer is vital. I can go hatless for about a week around now when it is warm and not too sunny.

I have never had a hat come off in the EOS, but in my old 3 series I had a few cap incidents, however due to the sort of air vertex you get coming over the windscreen the hat always ended up on the back seat :)

I've just received a gold medal for wearing my Olympic GB baseball cap in my EOS; subject, of course, to my Krytox test being confirmed positive.
