My 2009 VW EOS is three months old. The top has malfunctioned 3 TIMES NOW. Once in a parking ramp while it was completely frozen in mid-air (had to call a flatbed truck to take it to the dealership), the second and third time it wouldn't close all the way, so I had to drive it to the dealership open. Mind you, the 3rd time this happened, it was RAINING.

Volkswagen is replacing my entire roof. Yes folks, you heard that right. And, from what they tell me, I am the FIRST case that they have heard of. Go figure.

Has anyone had any major problems with their roof?

Summer where I live is only about 3 months long. I have had this car in the shop now for 3 weeks (total time) and now they are telling me another MONTH until I see it. I guess I can kiss the summer goodbye without my convertible! :(

Summers are getting less and less now, huh? :)

Sorry to post 2 threads on here! I tried to delete it and can't figure out how!

I would love to hear anyone else's story though on roof issues. I'm a mess :(

Have deleted duplicate post - as a matter of interest, you mentioned the first failure was on a ramp; we were advised by the dealer when the car was delivered to never open/close the roof unless the car was level or very close to level.

I too had my entire roof replaced earlier this year. My car had done 3K miles and was 5 months old. (see my previous posts)

The roof got stuck half closed and it took the dealer 3 attempts and 6 weeks off the road to finally get the new roof fitted and working.

VW UK were fully updated in the whole saga and their engineers were remotley involved in trying to diagnose the initial fault and also the subsequent fault on the replacement roof which also got stuck. I still dont know what the original fault was but the subsequent one on the new roof was caused by incorrect torque settings at the factory on a couple of bolts in the internal folding mechanism.

VW also paid me compensation for all the hassle so its bollocks to say yours is the FIRST problem they have had.

The dealer in Glasgow had also replaced a roof on an early Eos so mine was the second one they had done. In addition, I've just had an email from someone in New York who is having their faulty roof replaced so thats makes FOUR in total I've heard about.

Are there any more???????????????????/

PS I still love my car..............:)
