Hi,

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone.

Secondly, on my travels over the holiday period i witnessed -6 degree temperatures on a trip across from Scotch Corner to Penrith last week. This froze the entire front end of my Eos and also, when stopping at a friend's house i realised that my headlamp washers had frozen, the left one having frozen in it's sticking out position. Over the next day or so the unit retracted however neither is still working.

Anyone had a similar problem? Am hoping that there's a chance the fuse has gone to stop the motors from breaking. I had to use the lights and windscreen washer on my journey so there was nothing i could do to stop being in the situation where the car would be "trying" to activate them.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Not had a problem yet on the Eos with this but had the same issue on my Polo sport last winter where one of the headlamp washers could not open due to ice build up and it popped the headlamp washer fuse. It is a safety feature and should be an easy fix to do yourself.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I had hoped that there'd be something that would stop the motors burning out so i may check the handbook and try changing the fuse myself before phoning VW. Must have been very cold, -6 without the wind chill into consideration. Whole front of car had iced up and for one of washers to freeze out shows how cold it was!

Cheers,

Mark

Hy people,

Anyone know how the cylinders are fixed? They are fixed to bumper or to same metal bar on fronts car?

Thanks.

EDIT: I already know. They are fixed at the bumper.

head lamp washer

I have a similar problem. My headlamp washers stopped working just after new year when the temp was -5c. not checked the fuse yet. Any one have any idea which one to check and were it is?

Also my boot tends to close (soft close function) too quickly after the boot has been released. This seems worse when the temrture is low,any ideas.

How long do you leave your boot once released? My boot was fine throughout the winter.
The only problems I had this winter was when my car was frozen, and the windows were stuck, so the door woudn't open

My boot does this constantly and others have reported the same. You release it at the door switch but by the time you get round to the back it's locked itself again. Try not closing the driver's door though and you'll find it hasn't re-locked! It's either the action of closing the door which wobbles the car sufficiently for the boot to re-lock or else it's the air-rush created when you shut the door that does it.

Twice my dealer has 'adjusted' something on the boot latch which when adjusted to the maximum stops this happening! It seems to last about a year before it starts doing it again.
