Ive just ordered my Eos and was told it would be 12 weeks but I'm assuming that is just a guideline. Are there and horror stories about delayed delivery dates, and indeed has anyone been pleasently surprised and got theirs early?

Anyway Im getting this car through my company and have £26k to spend. Ive opted for the 2.0 FSI sport with goodies rather than turbo without goodies. Not too fussed about performance anyway as (in my opinion) this is simply not a drivers car. 200bhp sounds like alot but this is a heavy car and after test driving the turbo, came to the conclusion that my 9 year old Fiat Coupe 20v turbo pisses all over it. So with this in mind I thought i'd spec it up as more of a conservative luxury cruiser which just happens to be a convertible when the suns out.

After looking at some of the pictures here ive gone for black with cream leather just like the guy from Holland, NICE!!

Just wish they did DSG in non turbo. It weird because normally sport models are always manual and auto aimed at lux spec for just wallowing around at a relaxed pace, eh well.

Gone for all extra's except cruise (pointless on our motorways) lec seats (pointless without multiple driver memory) and satnav (expensive an simply a bragging feature in the pub. A £150 tom tom does the job better and you can put speed cams on)

Anyway all the other stuff looks reall good and I just love the quality of the cabin compared to my current Vauxhall Astra Convertible.

12 weeks is a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to get involved with other owners now anyway.

OOooooh James James James - expect to get some comments over this one!! One thing you'll find is that top down the car becomes very sorted, and while everyone would agree that its not a 'sports' car [and it isn't sold as one really], it does have strong sporting tendencies! I can throw it around our country lanes quite nicely - a Porsche it ain't, but then it does have a couple of extra seats, bit more room etc etc. One question - if you've settled for 'cruising' configuration, why opt for the 'sport' model? The tightened suspension will make a [small] difference to the ride. away from full comfort??

12 weeks will pass quite quickly!

Cheers

Driver's car?

As a 2.0 T-FSI owner I don't agree it's not a driver's car of course!

It may not be quite the drive a Golf GTI is but it's a whole lot better than any of the other CCs on the market and is really quite good on the twisty bits. It needs that 200 bhp to row it along at a respectable rate though in my opinion...

About £26K is what I paid for the Turbo with a few of the important extras like leather and Xenon lights.

If they say 12 weeks delivery I reckon that's what it will take - no more, no less!

Went for sport spec as its a no brainer really, interior needs those chrome bits and the wheels are better etc. The suspension is firmer granted but its the lowered part I was more interested in. I think this cars has quite large wheel arches and makes even 17"s look average. If only it had a lower stance but without being firm, this would be my preference but this is not possible so there we are.

Anyway it was having auto that I really wanted so I have infact now gone for the turbo just to get the DSG. Whilst I realise that as CC's go this one is a good as you can get in this sector, what I meant was that its obviouly going to have limits due to weight etc.

All I want is to cruise round at a leasurly pace with the roof down using 1 foot to go/stop and 1 hand to steer, thats it.

When I was considering a Twintop the auto option was only on the 1.8 petrol you see, the 2.0 turbo was 6speed manual only as its packaged as a sports model.

Anyway, looking forward to being able to post some sexy pictures on here. Nice to speak to you all.

Paul, Please tell Jamesyboy I'm not talking to him, 'conservative','simply not a driver's car' indeed! Mind you, now he's ordered the DSG, wait til he tries S mode and see what he says. Tell him I waited 16 weeks, worth every day, and good luck with the car. "Younger generation, I dunno, mutter..mutter" hobbling off for cocoa

Jamesy Jamesy - I warned you! You've got off lightly so far! As he' won't talk to you I'll forward Gurny's comments in case they missed you by! Mind you you redeemed yourself by converting to the 2.0T - I believe that for whatever reason you made the right choice and when the car comes you'll really understand why! It's a great cruiser, naturally, and its number one for some very good reasons [but then we WOULD say that wouldn't we!], but drop the top [you're right, it IS top heavy with it up] and you'll have some fun or my name isn't, ...isn't...er.....where's my book of names??? Mumble mumble, GUrny, GURNY hold on, make that two mugs of cocoa.......

Jamesy, At least you have made the right decision now. A test drive is one thing but if you need to be persuaded as Paul says its one of those good things in life that need a little time to be appreciated. Believe me it's a very sporty number and you will be over the moon with it.
Make it three mugs of cocoa please and pass the biscuits.

I'm sure i will love it. I didnt mean to put it down, all of you who have the T and are spending hard earned cash on it are bound to be protective. For me a convertible is just not so much about the performance and as its not my only car (I also have a Fiat Coupe 20 valve turbo and a Renault Vel Satis 2.2 DCi) so even though the model I finally chose incorperates the best out of both my other cars, it didnt need to so to speak. I just wanted it to be auto with lots of goodies. I must say that the twintop was very tempting, as I could have got the 1.8 petrol auto with EVERY extra listed over 4 years interest free credit for £159 per month less that the Eos but as I'm getting a little help from the company it made sense to think about residuals as the car will eventually be 100% mine. Plus the roof mech was better thought than the twintop and left a more usable space in the boot with the roof down.

Ive never owned a VW before and I just hope the build quality is a s good as they say it is as this was a major issue with my current and soon to be outgoing Astra convertible.
