As a first post, I thought I would place an introduction. I've been lurking around the site for a while now, and you all seem quite a friendly bunch. I've been eyeing up the Eos for a long time, and after much planning and pleading with my wife, I'm intending placing an order for a new Eos in March, for delivery I suppose sometime around June.

A quick bio - I'm 34, married with two children, live in North Wales. By profession I'm a funeral director. Our current cars have been chosen with family in mind. My wife has a Vectra Esate and I, a Honda Accord Tourer. My stroke of genius is to 'give' my wife the Accord, freeing me up to get the Eos. By some miracle, I managed to succesfully convince her that this is "A Good Idea". I'm currently battling with specification, but I think I've settled on a 2.0 Sport, Silver Essence, Avignons, Wind Deflector, Luxury Pack, Winter Pack, iPod Connector. However, I've heard that specs may be changing for '08 model year, which could put me back to square one.

Anyway, hello to all, and a happy new year as well.

Happy New year and welcome from this side of the pond. You would be the first funeral director I think I've seen on any forum. Also the first to order the Avignon wheel out side the US. We had them as standard on the Sport package here in 07 but are now an option for the general lineup and there is no 2.0 Sport here for 08. Whatever options you order, hope it makes your Eos enjoyable.

Welcome to the forum. You've picked the right car for sure.

If you haven't already done so I would do some research on the iPod connector. It's very basic, and now the stereos come with mp3 compatibility I'm not sure I'll use my iPod in the car any more. At least with the mp3's you can get the stereo to display the track info and be able to select the track/artist/album you want without having to disconnect and navigate via the iPod.

Thanks for that. I managed to find a pdf file online for the iPod connector's manual. Assuming it does what it says it does, I'm quite happy with the functionality it has.

With regard to mp3 compatibility, are you referring to the ability to plug an mp3 player into the system? If so, is this through a jack in the glove box, and would this power the player as well?

The newer units (which have mp3 written above the CD slot) will play Data CD's containing mp3 files. So you can get 12 or so albums on a single CD. It can also display the artist/track/album name on the unit as well.

The iPod only shows Track 1, Track 2 etc...

Hi and welcome.
2008 spec cars have been on the market for some months already so if you order in March for delivery in June you will 100% certainly get a 2008 spec car. But you'll just miss the 2009 spec models by a couple of months as they will probably be out around August 08!

As a quick update, i spoke to my dealer on friday last. He quoted delivery time now of 15-20 weeks. With that in mind I'm going to bring my planned March order forward. I'm booked for a test drive this friday, although this is a mere formality really.

Thanks to nail-z-gull. I had another look at the iPod adapter and you're right, I don't really need it. I've also changed my mind about the Avignon alloys.

I have to say, I'm getting that excited feeling in my gut now. Got to get that spec finalised though.....:D

The iPod connection in the armrest is fantastic. Completely covered by the arm rest itself so no need to remove your iPod when you leave the car as it can't be seen. No you can't change your playlist/track/artist without removing the iPod from the dock but who really needs to do that once your out and about enjoying the ride.

Hello to all from a new EOS owner. Just got it on Tuesday, and I am very excited about it. It's the first car that I own and to be honest I am a bit scared too. I hope it wouldn't take me long to realize that it's just a car. But, until then, I certainly hope that nothing happens to it! I love it!!!!

Kisses to all!!

P.S. Sorry for perhaps spoiling lordys' thread

I know...I already been to Thessaloniki and back with it, two days after I got it!!!:D :D (About 420 km)

I am not concerned about my driving skills, the other drivers concern me, and some kids that have the tendency to scratch brand new cars.

Ok...enough about this...nothing is gonna happen...positive thinking...:)

Some of the specs that you mention are standard here in Greece, like dual zone climate control (too hot in the summer), 6 speed manual (only by order you get automatic), mp3.

Anyway, its black with corn silk, 1.4 TSI, 17" Solitude. I added almost anything that could be added in the car and wanted of course.

P.S. I went to order a 1.6, and at the time of the order they told me that it will come as a 1.4, ok didn't like it much, but I though that at least I would have more horse power (from 115 to 124ps)

Welcome. What do you mean "It's just a car"? It's much more than that...!
