Over the weekend it got a bit warm here in Virginia - 102F (39 C) to be exact - with high humidity. I found myself driving with the top down, windows up, and AC aimed at my arms and face.

At first I thought nothing of it, but while in this mode I passed two other EOS' being driven with the top up.

Thoughts?

I'm with you, but at 102F I can see where some worker bees might need to be cool or not have their hair messed up if they're going to work or some business appointment.

What was the UV factor?
Here, on hot days the UV factor is generally extreme and it is advisable to use sunscreen. So on really hot days, the top stays up.

Drove my EOS top down at temperatures ranging from +5°C to +42°C (sometimes, A/C off was even better to feel the lukewarm air flying in from the side windows)... But wearing a cap was mandatory over 30° to avoid sun burns or "sun overheat" (whatever the name in English is...)... Yet also drove it roof up at +35°C to avoid pollution in our Y shaped valley (3 moutains tending to keep pollution stuck)... Besides hairdo and UV levels, pollution can also be a reason for driving roof up...

St. Louis Weather

I have been in the bright sun at 99F already, and I put the top down! I leave the windows down, and turn A/C on to get a cool breeze wafting through every now and then.

As far as the sun goes, I recommend the Neutrogena Sun Block. It comes in an aersal no-rub form so I even spray it on the top of my head.

Cheers!

I'm with Andy, I drive to work with the top down, but when it gets anywhere into the 90s I'm using the a/c. So I still have it down every day, just when is the question. In the summer it is in the morning.

The hottest so far with the top down is 106 degrees - I was stuck in slow moving traffic on the highway and was close to melting....but still no AC on. The top is ALWAYS down unless it's raining in the summer!! (But I'm a diehard convertable owner - 30 years and counting)

walkert, do you know if that Neutragena sunblock is fragrance free? Can only use ff stuff and that would be really handy to keep in the car and I could get some when I'm in LV in September.

Being in North Texas and now July we are officially in Hotter than Hell territory. My tolerance is around 94F, at which point I just don't enjoy it. Also, for some bizarre reason, I don't want to turn on the A/C with the top down... Personally my favorite temp is in the high 70's for top down driving.

I'm more curious what folks low temperature cut-off is?!?!

Nice sunny day in winter I have had the roof off when temps were about 7C. Must admit it was not for a long drive though. Low cut off if I remember correctly is 5C as the roof is not set to operate at lower temps. , (at least for UK models).

Okay, St. Louis yesterday was at 102 F (with humidity high giving it a heat index of 112 F). Today it is 93 F with a heat index of 102 F. I drove both days with the top down, lots of sunscreen, and the A/C blasting!

Speaking of which, anyone know of a way to get the A/C colder? It is cool, but not cold.

I have noticed several varities of the Neutrogena sunblock - including a fragrance free version. You might have to go to a few stores to find it tho. Although the normal is not very fragrant - no cocoa-butter smell or anything.

Thanks Walkert, I will check it out when in Vegas in September. Hope to God it's not going to be tooooo.... hot while we are there.
Along with Barchetta, providing its not raining, the roof is down.

I picked up my Eos in Connecticut and had to drive it home to PEI. It was very hot...high 90's and I put the top down....I did get a sunburn but I enjoyed every minute!!

One thing I did notice...with the AC on with the top down, I eventually started to get water droplets forming around the air vents and spitting out at me. I assumed this was due to condensation around the cold A/C components.....I decided to switch it off by times so it would dry out. Could this water condensation cause problems?

Totally in agreement!! I was driving around Kent in January and February when the temperature was around 0 degrees with the roof down on my Ford Focus convertible, people used to look at me like I was stupid but with the windows up, heating on and the heated seats burning my bum it was actually quite cosy!! lol

With my Eos I am taking full advantage of the odd sunny day England has and put my top down! ;)
