Hello there ! I recently bought an Eos 2007. TFSI sport anniversary 2.0 . Everything seems to work fine , apart from a fault that comes up from the roof but makes it work most of the times. I am planning to take it for a long road trip from London to south Italy . What shall I check best before I leave ? Considering the car has 180.000miles ! Pls some help as is my 1st car ! 馃檹馃徑馃榿

You would ideally need to use a VW comparable scanner to look for any codes related to the roof operation.

And check all the roof elements etc which there are a number of posts about on the forum.

As your post suggests you are in/near London it might be worthwhile talking to a company called Cayman Autos who specialise in convertibles and have had some good feedback on a number of forums I have visited.

I wouldn't even take it on a long UK trip knowing there was an intermittent roof fault. Buy a half top cover that fits and take it with you just in case. If the roof or windows fail part open with all your stuff in the car, you may not be able to drive it and local garages speaking their lingo won't have much of an idea of how to fix it. What starts as a 3 week trip to Italy could be one week or more with your car in a small town garage en-route. Cayman Autos would be a good place to start getting it checked before you go. Get yourself a good breakdown insurance policy before you travel that includes breakdown towing.
